I like mazraoui he has done well but its just concerning that we needed a left back and the club signed another right back. Now dalot has struggled with form this season playing on the left after having his best season last year playing right back. Its also worrying that we needed goals in the team and we didnt go for a top centre forward with some goals in him instead a player in zirkzee who likes to drop and link the play. The structure of the team has been so bad this year i think Ineos first window has been worrying to say the least 😢

It's easy to pick it this way and fault the club. Have you sat down to calculate the club's finances and see how bad it is? This isn't 3 or 4 seasons ago that we can afford to sign so much. We can only do it in bits. The club can still make the transfer of a left back in January if they truly want to succeed. A striker isn't so very paramount considering the positions we need to take care of. We can always do that by end of the season. Let's not forget, we need another creator. The tactics isn't favouring Bruno

Personally, I don't see it as a big deal in the real sense. He might had simply wanted to leave. It's just like keeping someone against their will just like Paul Pogba. What if he wasn't playing well, will we be having this conversation now? I think he should be there for for at least a season. At least he would have had the full experience and we'll be able to tell if he is ready or not. We can begin slotting Amas in as a substitute, begining from this weekend so he starts getting few game time. Same thing with our young midfielder. They need those little minutes. Let's not forget, we can only predict, we can't be so certain. What if we get him and he doesn't perform? Doing this is like crying over spilt milk
@andreichivu889211 күн бұрын
I said it was a mistake when they loaned him out in 2023. Even before Ineos coming in and before deciding to sell him. He looked really good in the preseason. I even said he was better offensively than Shaw. And he’s got better dribbling skills than most of our midfielders and attackers and really inverts in the middle by nature. He would’ve been spot on now in that position where Dalot plays inverted. Now we have to pay 3 times the price to get him back. Regarding coming summer, I’m willing to bet Shaw is gonna be sold. I think by now they saw enough of him, his injuries situation is not amendable. They need to be ruthless about Shaw too.

It also hinges on what was said between the club and player in respect of his playing prospects for the first team. Were they honest? Did they string him along? Were they sympathetic/supportive? But we don't know what was noticed when the player was at the club, what reports stated about him from his loan spells.

Presumably we sold him because he wanted to play every week in a first team and we thought Shaw and Malacia would be fit. We can’t just hold him hostage because we might need him. Shaw was fit, and we had just signed Malacia. With those two, the kid wouldn't have seen much action, and it just didn't make sense keeping him around and holding him back. And no one knew that Shaw and Malacia would go on to be miss so much time. Reguilon was brought in as a temporary solution. When you make decisions, you don't think about losing two players to injury.

I believe it's more likely that he asked to leave. From what we saw, he showed some serious quality. He deserved some game time, and I assume we weren't prepared to guarantee him any.
@jamiemorgan297211 күн бұрын
If he’s weak under pressure then he would be targeted in the EPL, in which case he would have been back up. The lad probably wants guaranteed 1st team football which he’s getting now. From the situation you would have to imagine he wanted to leave and the club understood his potential by installing the buy back clause. I can’t imagine he will want to leave for a team where he isn’t going to be a guaranteed starter so he needs to work on his ability under pressure before his next move. I think he’s at the right club for him right now as a loan does not provide the same stability as a fresh start. Sometimes the club has to do what’s right for the youngsters as holding onto players and holding back the development they would get elsewhere isn’t good for the game as a whole. I’d love to see an offer go in for Alphonso Davies during the January transfer window but I think he will run down his contract for a big signing fee and bumper wages in the summer but that is the sort of quality Utd will need to challenge for the big trophies. You can’t have weak links in your starting 11.
@JoeDuffy69s11 күн бұрын
If we buy him back for 17m, that's 12m loan fee for half a season that we paid to benfica. Ashworth didn't do great deals at all. He paid release clause for each player and in case of yoro, paid way more than needed. He didn't sell players for giant sums of money like arsenal.
@CarolSteele11 күн бұрын
100% I would resign him. His buy back clause is rumoured to be be €20 million (approx £16 million). Benfica's selling price on the open market is €50 so we would more than get our money back if we decided to let him go again - something we have only done once (Daniel James) in recent years.
@SkullSnax11 күн бұрын
It's a little disingenuous to say we sold him. We loaned him out, we agreed to a sell on clause, that was the start of 2023/24 season, Shaw was fit, Malacia was injured but looked like he would be back soon. He'd have been third choice and wanting to play. Shaw was incredible in that 22/23 season, so no chance if Shaw was fit. And then such is life, Shaw gets injured, Malacia's injury is worse than expected, Benfica want to use the sell on clause and the player likes being first choice in a top European team. Like the injury and left back situation last season was a mess, and it's still a mess. It's not all "mistakes", it's unforeseen circumstances.

From what i remember he was ok as the inverted wing back and his pace was good, neither are as promising as Fernandez for the reasons i've stated. I can't remember if Inios and crew were in place when he left so i can't blame them? Surely if they were, they wouldn't have let him leave? Good job we have the buy back option as i would be destroyed if the Dippers got him!! LIndleof is surplus to requirement, Martinez is wasted as a left wing back unless the game warrants a 3 at the back, he does his butchering best at centre back, i would love to see him have the odd game in midfield as a ball winner and string puller. Personally ,if i was Alvaro and was promised (in contract) to play regular i would come, otherwise no, that hurts to say as i'd play on crutches to get games for United, the love runs that deep. Was this a very weird loan-not-loan to get around FFP? Sell him 5M profit then buy back at a similar price over 4-5 years? Literally the only move that makes sense, even if they've decided Amass is the future, playing Fernandez for a season or 2 until then only raises his value. So I can only assume some weird creative FFP loophole here, no way they thought our left back options are good enough and available enough and his value will only decline

Smells like the same as in January when we sent back Regleon. ETH was then told Shaw and Malacia would be back soon, in January. Then they was not. Could be the same in summer, ETH could have been told Shaw is back in a few weeks, after 1 international break. But then again, not so much.

If i was Fernandez i would not come back to united we treated him horribly and underrated and undervalued him and if he goes to liverpool he will hurt us at a later date 100%. Now if the club says the previous regime is who did that and we fired all them because they were inept then maybe he would listen but idk that ten hag rates him either unfortunately. Which again ten hag may not be here for much longer but still i would understand if he wanted no part of this club anymore we have issues identifying talent and issues developing that talent appropriately. Just look at mainoo garnacho and even rasmus who we overplay into the ground and don’t surround with players who improve their game but force the young players to have to compensate for.

I live in Benfica, hes been superb this season, all the Benfica lads here think its nuts UTD let him go for next to nothing

Man utd let all these youngsters go without giving them chances in the first team. It’s ridiculous. Especially, when those boys have done so well rising through the academy. By the way, what is wrong with Amass. Why is ten Hag finding it so difficult to give that boy some minutes. If you are good enough, you’re old enough. How old was Trent when he started playing in Liverpool’s first team.

Fernandez wanted to go back to him home country. He wanted to be closer to his family being a part of that. Didn't United put a buy back option on him ???

Is of course the correct answer..footballers are human beings that have desires like the rest of us..nowt wrong wanting to be in your home country near your family

@@cyeamaculture8486 he's spent the prime of his teenage years in another country. 9/10 the portuguese are very family connected. we should be glad we gave him the tools to become a good player and just hope he doesn't hurt us lol

To list our clubs mistakes over the last decade would take fucking days. And the biggest worry for me , as we speak, we are still making them today. Ineos have done nothing to impress or improve this club.

I think as a player, I’d stay at benfica and then next season a Spanish club or another European club will make it a. Key signing. Re. Uniteds plan, since shaw arrived is let’s see. We need to draw a line in the sand. Shaws body’s makes him eligible for a first team role. Keep him as a utility player back up. But find a left bk that first team player that can make his own.

Rumors that the buy back clause does not come into effect until 2026. So the conversation of him coming back to help us now is irrelevant if that is true.

I don't get why we don't use youth when there's an injury and we don't have back up in the squad. Look at Liverpool, they used a kid on RB. So are we saying we don't have any youth player who plays LB?
