I absolutely love marling yarns. I started using marling techniques over 30 years ago when I knitted my first niece her "baby" blanket. I did everything wrong. It turned into the most beautiful marled striped blanket for a full sized bed. I didn't know that term existed then. I want to do more.

Greetings from Melbourne Australia 😘 I absolutely love the one you are wearing! One day when my skills are better and I have a stash to bust I’ll give it a go! I’m currently working on your sock pattern for my 1st ever knitted sock! Loving it and appreciate your very clear instructions! Thank you for your designs and tutorials- so inspiring!

i just tried my first marled knit - a pair of socks, and it was so much fun and a great way to use small scraps of yarn! i love the idea of marling for stashbusting with leftovers, and making something that is truly unique. thanks for the tip of twisting the strands together to get an idea of how they will pair together - i hadn't thought to do that.

I've been working away at my garter marled cardigan! It's so much much fun to use scraps and leftovers from past projects. My cardigan is turning into color chaos and I love it!

And a colour chaos cardie will go with everything, so that's some knitting that will earn its keep.

I’ve not had much success with marking before as not liking how the colours worked (it was a chunky project too) maybe something like the marled shawl will ignite my passion. Can I ask, if I add some mohair, do I just add to the 2 strands of fingering, or do I drop a strand of fingering? I’m glad you shared what you were wearing as I kept wondering what it was, it beautiful! But then all your designs are!

If you want to add a strand of lace weight mohair, you can just add it to the two strands of fingering. If you want to replace one strand of the fingering weight, that is okay too...those sections will just be a little thinner. Or you can drop one strand of fingering and add two strands of mohair. A marled shawl would be a great project to experiment with different combinations...enjoy!
