This hits so hard. My mom passed away January 2020. Literally 2 weeks before my wedding. My mother in law and my grandmother tried so hard to fill that role. But even with all the love in the world, you still just have those times where you want your mom.

@CordobaGirlC5 I'm so sorry for your loss. I know exactly what you mean about having those times where you want and yes, need your mom. My mom passed in August 2014, my husband passed early Christmas morning 2020 and all I could think was I wish my mom was here, she'd know what to say. You and I were blessed, we had mom's that loved and cared for us. Their love and the memories are what have made us the women we are and will be. All you have to do is look in the mirror and search your heart because that is where your mom lives on. Grief doesn't end but you will learn how to live with it and go on in spite of it. You carry the strong woman your mom was inside. You will make it!! God Bless you Cordoba.

it's just the scene is so powerful. Can you imagine the scenario where you wonder when, if you pass, if your children will remember you? I don't have any kids yet but I cannot imagine having to wonder that thought like with the case of Susan Sarandon's terminally ill character. And also can you imagine wondering as Julia Robert's character did if your step children will secretly compare you to their mom who has passed, wondering if you will every be good enough to be the mom they have lost? And then how Susan Sarandon's character said that the children will not have to choose, they can love both the mom now and the mom past, and that their love is eternal, and nothing will be lost. When she said the children will always have them both is so moving and touching. So deep and powerful and inexpressibly moving, no wonder it moves a whole theater to tears!

I was 8 years old when this movie came out. I remember going to see it in the theater with my best friend, our two annoying little brothers who were both 3 at the time, and our mothers. We didn't know it at the time, but a little over a year later, my best friend would be going through this very same scenario with her own mother. A year later, my family moved away. My childhood best friend and I tried to stay in touch as much as possible. My mom and I even went to her mom's funeral. Unfortunately, we lost touch over the years, but ended up reconnecting on Facebook. Even though our lives went in totally different directions (she followed in her mother's footsteps and became a lawyer and I am a writer), we still reminisce sometimes about going to see this movie together and how much it meant to both of us

You have a great mindset ... I’m a full time single father to my 8 year old girl... it’s hard to date because most woman don’t want a child that’s not theirs ... just keep being the good girlfriend you have been... as well as be the best whatever the child needs you to be... just go with the flow .. the child will love you just keep grinding... sending all the best

This particular scene is so meaningful to me. My stepmom and biological mom had the worst relationship ever. If only they would've been able to behave like these two women did... Eventually these characters were able to come to a meeting of the minds. Unfortunately my mom's didn't.

Same, brutal for kids in that situation. The feeling of being the perpetual outsider in your own house. Not a fun way to grow up, been there as well.

this is how co-parenting should be, you only ever have the kids best interests at heart, its not about you, or who cheated or who lied, get along for the kids sake, they'll be better people, I've seen the long term damages of kids from divorces years on

This movie really hits home because it's so similar to my childhood. Except the fact my stepmom was mean to me and my sister. I was 16 and my sister was 9 when she passed. It's been almost 20 years and we still miss her so much. Graduations, marriage, kids...it's all been bittersweet. We wish she could have been there for all of it.

I know this is all about a mom and stepmom thing, but this hits me hard because I lost my dad from cancer and heart failure this past New Years. I do have a stepdad and hearing Isabel say all this just reminds me of how he told me that he wouldn't ever replace him.

My mom & I used to watch this often. She started watching it because at one point, she was a step-mom (both of my half-brothers died). I got married in September, almost 2 years after my mom passed away. "I wish my mom was here" has such a strong meaning to me now.
