They’ve ‘fixed’ their problem from 2019, even though they haven’t admitted to anything. Their products are safe to use now (as long as you clarify on a regular basis) Wave Maker is my favorite styling cream, I recently bought a couple of tubes from Sephora and haven’t had an issue with them.

You can mix 1 part conditioner and 1 part water. To refresh your hair. What products are your hair to style it? I have high density fine hair. So I can not use a leave in conditioner under my gel. If I do, when my hair dries, my roots will be frizzy. I don’t use a creamy styler. I use a gel. The ones I love are the tressemme bouncy curls or Garnier pure and clean gel. Both are curly girl method approved. Don’t apply your gel to soaking wet hair. You use more product and you get more definition if use your gel on damp hair.
@seerchannah1024 жыл бұрын
Also if you refresh your hair, scrunch your hair toward your scalp. This will encourage your curls to clump.
@bluebabyeyes214 жыл бұрын
If you just started the method, dont feel that if you are doing something wrong. Your hair will frizz and not last much, because you are still transitioning. Your hair is still unhealthy. It's going to take some time to achieve the long lasting curl. I've been natural for 4 yrs and it took me about 1-2 yrs to get a healthy actual defined curl. Trust the process.

It is very tough! There are several things that claim to help with hair shedding, such as apple cider vinegar rinses (I show how to do that in my video on How to Clarify), and tea rinses. I need to do a video on it, I just don't have all my research done yet and haven't found a tried and true tip just yet.
@LambVan5 жыл бұрын
@@GenaMarie So glad it's a real thing. Thanks for taking seriously and doing the proper prep!

la vanM i would be very careful when using apple cider vinegar on your hair. I used it 1 time on my hair, it made my hair fall out. I did that 1 time 8 years ago. Apple cider vinegar is way to strong for hair. I use a tea rinse to stop excess shedding. The one I’m currently using is Amla and cassia tea rinse, but your can use black or green tea. After you rinse your hair with the tea, deep condition your hair.

hi !! i don’t know if you will see this, but i’ve been trying to get my hair back to a healthy, naturally textured state. i’ve heat and chemically damaged my hair for most of my life so my current hair is just a frizzy, dry, wavy/straight mess. but everyone in my family has a curl pattern and i know i have some type of texture because i see it in my hair sometimes, and i had loose curls when i was little. i’ve been watching your videos for a couple days to see where to start with transitioning my hair and i really like the tips you give. i’ve tried some of them and they actually help! all of the products i used to use have sulfates, silicones, and alcohol, so i went out and bought a curly hair friendly shampoo and conditioner. i ended up buying texture id coils detangling shampoo. i would say i probably have 2a or 2b hair, at the moment at least, so i’ve been wondering if buying a coily hair product was a mistake. since i’ve started using them and doing other cgm techniques with my hair, i’ve noticed that my hair is definitely improving. it’s silkier, it doesn’t look so dry anymore and my curls are slowly starting to appear. but since changing my shower products, i’ve noticed my hair looks greasier way quicker and i’m wondering if i should return the products i bought and replace them with looser curl products since my hair might not be compatible with coily hair shampoo. i also don’t want to be weighing down my curls with a heavy coil shampoo if that’s what i’m doing. do you think i should change my products? if so, what 2b ish products would you recommend for a beginner? thank you, and i love your videos a lot!! 🤍

mely moreno try masks and wear bonnets to bed or silk pillow if you wanna go to next level make sure to not use like staticky shirts or jackets also get some split ends cut of I did the big chop because it was just sooooo damaged and last but not least rock your hair! Hi Gena, I have been religiously watching your videos as someone who is transitioning from relaxing her hair for over 10 years. I took your recommendation and went through all my products and got rid of those that didn't fit the curly girl method. I was wondering if you would be able to recommend the basic products needed to begin the journey and those that would be nice to add over time. The reason I ask this is because going through the videos there are many types of products you use and I'm not quite sure which ones are absolutely necessary versus the ones that are nice to have. I don't want to go out on an expensive spending spree to get a whole bunch of products that I may not need/like. Would really appreciate a list if you could! Thank you!!!

How do you know if your hair is actually curly? Mine is super and thick, but the short pieces curl and create ringlets on their own. is my hair just too heavy and long to curl?
@SueRosalie3 жыл бұрын
was it curly in your teens? Do you have to straighten it? It's not possible to be unaware of having curly hair! People struggle with curly hair their whole lives. If you have extremely long hair of one length the weight may be stretching out the waves. The solution to that is to have a dry curly cut, with light layers and shaping
@janettemorales82594 жыл бұрын
I know your not supposed to wash you hair as much and to not use products with sulfates and when you have your wash days that’s when you follow the steps but I’m just wondering how do you style your hair when it’s not your wash day are you still following just the same procedure just conditioning your hair but rinsing and then following the other steps? I Hope that made sense... I also have a question about brushing... As for me I personally get huge knots in my hair and my hands just don’t do. Would you happen to know any suggestions?

@GenaMarie3 жыл бұрын
Deep condition once a week if you’re transitioning from heat damage or have dry hair. If your hair is healthy, deep condition a couple times a month. For regular conditioners, use those after each shampoo when you’re not doing a deep conditioning treatment.

it means you're doing something wrong - the wrong products for your hair texture; or overwashing, or using too much and too many products. Dial it back and start a simple routine. Get a copy of the Curly Girl Method Handbook so you understand the principles.

@SueRosalie3 жыл бұрын
it doesn't matter - you only need to know if it's fine/med/or coarse (each strand); and thin or thick (density i.e. number of hairs on your head) and if very porous due to bleaching, or normal porosity

I used to wear it straight for years. Do I still have the option to straighten? Do I have to do anything to prep or jump back in to CGM after I straighten?
@dominique573n94 жыл бұрын
Briana Grim if you are following the cgm you can’t use any hot tools so no straightener at all even one time damages the progress

I say no cuz only if you are trying to get your curl pattern back and give your hair life again then heat is not the best way to go however whenever you get ur curl or wave pattern back and your hair is healthy again 2 to 4 times a year is okay.....but if you are flat ironing you hair once a month your hair journey with take longer to get your curls back........I say no heat but that's my opinion.....and if you get tempted to use your curling iron or flat iron give it to someone or don't let it be in your reach so you don't get tempted to use it.....I wish you the best of luck!!!
