Steve and Roy aren’t questioning Sir Alex’s record. They are questioning his communication with his players. Indirect communication is toxic and only causes unnecessary pain. Sir Alex wasn’t perfect and this is obviously one of the ways he could have improved. He did the same with all the big players when they left whether it was Beckham, Stam, Ince, Cole or Nistelrooy.

It's not about pity or compassion. It's called respect. Ferguson considered Paul McGrath to be surplus to his requirements. He was suffering from alcoholism and personal demons. He offered McGrath £80k to retire. But he had to enter a contractual agreement declaring that he would not play professional football again. McGrath refused the deal and went on to play some of his best football at Aston Villa and at International level with the Republic of Ireland. Think USA 1994. Ireland vs Italy. What Ferguson declined to inform McGrath of was the fact that Liverpool had contacted Man Utd expressing an interest in signing him. Ferguson lied, telling Anfield that McGrath was not for sale. All the while Ferguson was attempting to have McGrath end his career. Villa manager Ron Atkinson put an arm around McGrath. He even moved into Atkinson's home! Which reaped dividends for Villa. Jack Chalton's Ireland can be eternally grateful for this reversal of footballing fortune. What's any of that got to do with pity and compassion? Ending a man's footballing career just to stop your fierce rivals benefiting from such a transfer? Ferguson was often guilty of dick behaviour. Not every successful manager with a cabinet filled with trophies behaves in that fashion.

There is such thing as competitiveness, determination and a refusal to surrender. All are healthy traits and very much part of a winner's mentality. But then there is also a line that when crossed renders someone as a scumbag who engages in such psychopathic activities. Ferguson placed a toe over that line on a number of occasions. Many ex-players speak of Ferguson's tactical genius and ability to select the right players and manage the dressing room. But over the years a good number of ex-Man Utd player have begun to echo Roy Keane's sentiments about the manner in which Ferguson discarded those who had displeased him or whom he felt were of no further use to him.

@@willtallis5275some people are silly regarding sacking Ten Hag, how can u sack him & then start again from scratch, Ten Hag was working under no structure above him for 2 years, only stupid fans thinks he should be sacked, those players we have at the moment can’t win anything with any manager, some of them are not good at all, they are mid table players, let’s give the guy a rest and let him go again next season and see Some of us the fans are just talking sh*t sometimes

@@konvict1657 he made bad signing and I also think he’s realised that but he didn’t want casimiro so who was responsible for that one and he also doesn’t do the negotiations and pay the money out so again yes he’s made bad signings but that’s it every second season under a new Magee has been the same they drop off massively been happening since 2014 but if you go and look at the youth setup and how they play and the coaches saying that it’s Erik’s plan for the youth shows you he can do it just the actual first team that aren’t performing that’s it he deserves at least 1 more season and a proper structure above him but inoes aren’t esactly acting fast are they it’s nearly end of season already and most people aren’t even in place yet we should already be planing the summer but we can’t so the club above Erik still needs sorting but honestly you see it on every platform people calling him to be sacked but not 1 of them can mention a name of a manger to come in and actually do better
