As a longtime New Jersey Devils 😈 fan, I'm tipping my cap 🧢 of sympathy and respect for you and your Maple Leafs 🍁. It really stinks when your season ends. The Florida Panthers have been playing playoff hockey 🏒 when every NHL analyst and prognosticator said they were multiple games out of 2023 NHL playoff contention. The Florida Panthers team took what the naysayers and so-called analysts said personally and professionally. The veterans alongside the coaching staff truly came together and worked on both their strengths and weaknesses. And above all, the Florida Panthers improved on the following 9 areas: #1. Clutch playmaking which has led to timely goalscoring #2. excellent goaltending #3. timely penalty killing #4. Increasing their defensive intensity in blocking shots #5. Playing together as a TEAM that holds each other with Absolute Accountability. #6. Consistent communication with each other on every offensive and defensive assignment. They're outworking their opponents. #7. Working with their head coach and his coaching staff on the fundamentals with intensity and a sense of urgency #8. And an insatiable IRON WILL in winning at all costs. #9. Executing the coaching staff's orders to perfection and keeping their disciplined focus on every single game: both in the regular season and the playoffs with ZERO room for error. The Florida Panthers played every 2023 NHL game as an NCAA basketball tournament: WIN and ADVANCE. LOSE and GO HOME. The Florida Panthers are in PLAYOFFS mode and are determined to make every single opponent pay dearly for overlooking them. Their insatiable iron will to win at all costs. They didn't care about the injuries. They keep getting better and I have no doubt that they brought up younger players from their own farm system development. And signed key veterans at the trade deadline with massive NHL playoff game experience. I believe the Florida Panthers are truly Stanley Cup championship contenders. And I may be the only NHL fan saying this. But I truly believe that the Florida Panthers just might win the 2023 Stanley Cup.

I think that puck probably got in when Bob's pad went in. But the ref basically called it a no goal. And there was no shot that showed it in. If you're going to overturn a call you have to prove it. So by that definition, it probably would have stayed as a goal if the referee called it a goal because there is also no video proof showing it was not a goal either.
Well see next season, youll be back and so will I....well done Stevie, your a good lad...

In March 2023 Ottawa played Colorado. The Aves fired a puck at the Ottawa goal and it went under the goalie in a play that was exactly the same as the goal Morgan Rielly scored. Ottawa's goalie covered the puck and waited a reasonable amount of time and then a Colorado player poked it into the net. The whistle never blew (just like Rielly's goal) and the puck went across the line (just like Rielly's goal) but in this case the play was deemed live and the goal counted. It was the EXACT SAME THING. By that template the precedent had been set and the goal should have counted. Icing ruled against Toronto when Bob played the puck. Marner elbowed in the face and no call, plus Florida given a power play in OT of a series deciding game. Game #3 Leafs get ZERO power plays and are 0-9 in games officated by Wes MacAuley. In 2022 Leafs were 20 minutes from winning the series when MacAuley put them down 5-3; Tampa scores on the PP and wins the game.

Thanks for another amazing Steve Dangle LFR year! You gave this viewer and I dare say Leaf Nation hope even when You were sad and down.....Thank You Sir! Sadly this is my last year being all in on a team of millionaire twenty-something catastrophic under-achievers. Like most fans I am quite saddened by their 2nd round exit but not shocked. These "modern athletes" really don't care about the impact they have and have not made to the city of Toronto and it's outer reaching communities, the province of Ontario or Canada for that matter (my apologies, insert their personal charities here please) but do care about the level of their bank accounts. The Gary "call me Bruce" Bettman & Ownership Group conspiracy theory has been completely prevalent in that "there's No Profit to be made with Canadian teams in the playoffs or finals" I personally watched them play and win game 5 at Maple Leaf Gardens and being downtown with my Grandpa to see the Cup parade at 7 years old and saw what it did to lift so many spirits across our country. Thank you once again for all your years of coverage, support, motivation and speaking what seemed to be on everyone's mind.(I enjoyed your book as well and hoped to get it signed one day, but alas) All the best Steve & your crew...producer Drew, Adam, Jesse and all that I have miss. The leafs has a lot of talents and skills. BUT they lost by lack of AGRESSIVITY. I don't mean violence. Our Italian soccer coach taught us to aggressively go to take the ball back from them. Take shots at the goal like you REALLY mean it. Drive it to score. You don't play to play, you play to win. It worked and we got a medal, versing teams a lot more experienced than we were. You see lack of a hard desire to own that game, shows in "shots on goal" significantly higher with the Panthers and with the Leafs. "Opportunity to shoot" is a fallacy. Opportunities are CREATED. I am still very proud of Toronto. Throughout the season, they game me a lot of joy in watching darn good hockey! Long live the LEAFS!! You have the team. You got this. Go bring the cup to Toronto in 2024!

Congratulations again for Leafs & fans Round 1 win - after 19 years of playoff losing. Leafs played as an average playoff team this year - which makes it tougher to troll the Leafs. After Leafs lost 3 games straight in the second round - Leafs fans started to troll the Leafs themselves. That is taking the work of us Leafs true trolls away and is not fair. But we are forgiving & look forward to more fun & interesting Leafs play next year. My guess Leafs core, GM and Coach - play on for another 7 years of this continuing fun. To go 19 years without a playoff series win is a major accomplishment in failing. But we might just see it again?
