It is a shame that he didn't maintain SOME social presence, there are too few good role models these days for western children. We dont have any Mr Rogers or Bob Ross type of people being featured across media anymore "except the resurgence of some of their media online, which is not a big enough exposure for all of us."

As a former certified Blue’s Clues kid, I think that the main appeal of the show to kid’s back then, and Steve references this, is the way that Steve spoke to the children. There is a certain level of respect that he gave the preschool viewership, speaking to them like human beings and asking them “What do you think?” It’s hard to imagine when you’re an adult, but as a kid, adults don’t really talk to you very often. They speak at you, but they don’t engage with you as another person. I think kids appreciated someone speaking to them, through the television set, in a way that made them feel respected and comfortable. I think that’s why people my age became attached to Steve as 3-6 year olds.

I'm a 35 year-old man, and hearing this guy's voice is like listening to my grandfather to my brain. It's the most surreal experience I've ever had. I watched this in tears. I was too old for Blue's Clues by the time I watched it. But I had much younger sisters, and I can remember sitting in the floor with them in the mornings before school and encouraging them to play along with Steve because they were so quiet. We didn't live in a loving home. Steve was my model for how to be a good big brother.

"I just wanna say, over all of these years, I never forgot you!" When that first dropped, I was almost in tears. Both of my daughters were toddlers when Blues Clues came out and it was such a huge part of our lives and something we bonded over. It was like reconnecting with someone who had a profound impact on your life, who had somehow remained frozen in time like our memories of him. 10 years later I had my first son, and he grew up with Joe. 12 years later I had my second son, and he's growing up with Josh. Blues Clue's is to millennials, gen z and the next generation what Sesame Street was to children of the 70s and 80s. What an amazing show!

The reason we felt so heartbroken when Steve left was because we were a generation where a LOT of us had dysfunctional, or broken, homes and families. Our needs and emotions about things were brushed under the rug. Steve has such an amazing talent for talking to you as if there’s no one more he cares about in the world. He felt truly grateful for our help, and seemed to genuinely look at us and care about our opinions we were yelling at the screen. Very few people could do it with that much genuineness. He made us feel seen. For me, he was one of very few people in my childhood who made me feel important. It seems silly because it was just a kids show, but it’s true. I waited all day for blues clues to come on. I cried the day they aired the episode of him leaving, even though I was a year or two out of my blues clues phase, I watched with my little brother and was so sad he was going. Idk if he’s a match for Steve, but my kids watch Josh now, and he’s also very talented.

As someone with autism, I took Steve leaving Blue’s Clues really hard as a kid. Blue’s Clues and Little Bear were my comfort shows (and are still, especially with my own kids) so such a sudden and drastic change made me bawl like a whole toddler. Steve was my childhood hero in every way possible. We almost have the same name (I'm Stephen while he goes by my nickname "Steve"), he wore green all the time which is my favorite color, and he and Mr. Rogers are easily the best kids' show hosts of all time. I was OBSESSED with Blue's Clues as a kid and still am. I literally had a little kid's size version of his shirt that was official merchandise that I wore when I was a little kid. If I ever were to have kids, I would absolutely make sure they watch Steve's version of Blue's Clues and are impacted by him just like I was. When I was in Times Square recently and saw him on the poster for the new movie, the nostalgia hit me so hard, and I got so excited to see him like a little kid all over again. Also, I love the Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper heart pin that he's wearing.

He has such a calming voice. Idk if it’s cuz he talked calmly like that to us growing up or whatever it may be, but it’s still so damn calming to listen to. It’s just feels like yes, I trust this man, and whatever he says with my entire life and I know he would never hurt me(us). God I adored Blues Clues.

Honestly, since he said he's been selling us burgers and insurance forever, I think we're very used to his voice in general on a subconscious level now especially if we did view him in his era of blue's clues

I'm glad he's still ok and alive. I just talked to him on Galaxycon Live Virtual Chat last month. He's a Legend and I hope he still lives longer the next 40 years up to his 90's. God Bless Him! I can't believe Mr. Fred Rogers died a year after Steve left the show.

Right. He Died In 2003. So Sad. Rip Fred Rogers. Forever Have Respect For That Man Till This Very Day For Sure. But How Can I Even Meet & Talk To The Legendary Steve Burns On Live On GalaxyCon Though? I Need To Know That I Wanna Meet Him Too One Day

That was a great video. Also, that was my first time hearing Steve's voice since I used to watch Blue's Clues as a kid. Holy crap, what a soothing, calming, pleasing voice to listen to.

I grew up with this man, he was one of the biggest parts of my early childhood, and when he left I was honestly more confused cause I didn’t understand changing casts, and years and years later when I saw that video came out of him saying he was proud of us, it just about made me cry.

Sixty year old granny here. Raised my son on Blues Clues. You will always be a part of our family. As soon as I saw your face & started listening, I was in tears. You just brought back so many wonderful memories. Thank you from the bottom of this grandma's heart.
