Saw this live and it was wonderful, got to meet him after. He was dead friendly and came and sat out the front with us very young fans . There werent many of us and it was so relaxed. One of my favourite musical memories. Cheers Steve.

Steve’s Genesis Revisited opened with this last night at Cropredy - sounded brilliant in the open air.

Great song, great album, and the rare sight of SH unleashing his inner guitar hero!

Yet another song from the late 70's that is meant to be played at least twice the maximum volume of whatever you're hearing it on. The whole Spectral Mornings album is golden. Thank you for the vid!

Watching Hackett with all that energy makes me wonder if I'd ever see that. He can put on a show! XD

This is an IMMENSE tune! .check out the keyboard player hitting the taurus(?)pedals with his fists,Geddy and Alex of RUSH are still tap-dancing on these 35 years later,tho' they only use them to trigger sequencers these days.

His soloing was never really technical, but his tone and emotion in his soloing always chokes me up...amazing song.
@SirDonovanAston Жыл бұрын
I presume you do not play guitar - SH is VERY technically gifted guitarist
@joaquinlezcano2372 Жыл бұрын
He's actually very technical. What do you mean? He just choose to do other stuff

Excellent! Hadn't realised that was how Steve got the tick tock sound! And check out the Mellotron close up at 1:20! Great sound!

Agreeded. Live, there were three Taurus pedals. The bass player, Steve and brother Johnl it was scary when they all hit them together. John played flute and raised the pedals to play with his hands. Massey Hall, Toronto

I saw them perform this at the San Jose State University Morris Daley Auditorium in 1980/81! Killer small venue!

John Shearer...only played on 2 Hackett albums but was his touring drummer for about 6 years. owns a drum shop in London England now. And he hit every piece in that set.

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a epic album. The only Genesis album that comes close is Selling Englund

Hackett, underrated guitarrist. Brian May is the drummer?
@agtbruinsman71905 жыл бұрын

Brian May would be a cool drummer though...

Gabriel and Hackett did not want to go "commercial". The rest of Genesis did. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was the style Steve and Peter preferred and it showed in thier solo stuff.
@antster19835 жыл бұрын
Have you not listened to "Cured"? That was Steve's attempt at going pop. It didn't quite work.

This is an advance on the Pink Floyd song; overall, I prefer "Spectral Mornings" to "Dark Side...".

Play on 11, to drown out Collins' Genesis.
@miamigroove11 жыл бұрын
See, if he was going to play this kind of stuff on his current tour I would have already bought my tickets. The early Genesis stuff just doesnt rock out as much as this does for me.

@@conradquek I take that back. Only the guitarist really sucked. The drummer and bassist were pretty good.
