You could say they were an anarchist band but all they were singing about was life as they saw it at the time. They were never mainstream punk if there was such a thing but they were true to their beliefs and even today they still put their all in to their music.Nostalgia it may be, but eh everyone had a good time and its just a shame its their last gig.

Thank you Crass ....you were the soundtrack to my childhood. Much love and respect for influencing me through your music and words. Personal freedom and the ability to keep an open mind through lifes challenges and to remain free in spirit and the physical...... a treasure that is true happiness for me.... No one is perfect ,nothing ever is......we can only do our best and together live the best life we possibly can. Thankyou.

How do you know society is the same ? Don't underestimate the Crass influence in the 1990s free party scene, hunt sabbing, the ALF, the road protests, poll-tax riot, AFA, Conflict etc. etc. Just because some windows remain unsmashed doesn't mean nothing came out of it. The participants are still here, shaping the lives of those around them every day. "There Is No Authority But Yourself" blimey, what power those six words gave to my life, it makes me choke up and for that I have Crass to thank

Spot on comments, mate. And to all those who say it's the same Crass, how would this have gone down back in the early 80's if they had played there with the merchandising surrounding it?

The venue has far better acoustics than the dives they used to play and mixing desks have come on light years since then. I hope they all make a few bob out of it, - you prefer to see Steve busking? or working shifts on an assembly line? Crass deserve comfort and dignity in the dotage that comes to us all.

because people know they cant really do anything about it so they listen to this stuff to feel better for not being able to make a stand. Or they grow a sense of humor. sometimes people come close to actually doing something but instead they a make a rock band or get killed by CIA in south america. I just like the music.

I dont think anyone could explain, maybe the "There Is No Authority But Yourself " documentary may give some insight, may even give some idea behind what the point was. Like many things in life....mmmm, I dont think Richard Dawkins writes books for the creationist or the folk in the Vatican but I have no doubt he thought about them. Maybe some Crass publications with further reading sources lead some ppl to new ideas, who knows.

u got it-best bands in the world (f.e. CRASS, REFUSED..) did split in time because they didn't want to get caught in the system. There is always some kind of 'system'..people are just building their own ones and try to get u caught in their trap, their expectations, their point of views, their mind..they want u to be their puppet..I had to read some bad mouth talking being posted about Steve for getting paid for his job doin a concert..these guys didn't understand a single word..do they owe us??

Oh, fuck yeah. 'Twas the start of my Awakening... ummm, 31 years ago. It's a work in progress, but nice to get this reminder; and have to say, it's as relevant as ever, even though as a collective back then, we anarcho-pacifist type kinda missed the opportunities open to us. If we could have seen what 2011 looks like now, we might have taken things a lot more seriously. Cheers, anyway!

are you sure it was crass rang the police could have been anyone, and why was someone kicking their guitars anyway, strange kind of behaviour to go to a gig and start kicking the guitars of one of the bands, i've been pissed out of me head and caused chaos at loads of punk gigs but never attacked a band or their gear (well apart from a few amps)

it does seem a bit overly produced, and a production of what they think people want to see. idk, I definitely can't say nothing, I'm just sad I missed the beginning, when you over think things you ruin them. don't crass say something about an institution being the lengthened shadow of one person? and perhaps somewhere warn of becoming what your protesting? I wonder what there kids are up to? do any of them carrie on the true tradition? or is this the final nail in punk's coffin?

CRASS will and should never reunite. They belong to their own time. Obviously, Steve Ignorant could never come over not being the singer of CRASS anymore. Even more obviously, this is getting ridiculous as he gets old. Move on, Steve! You're like a guy crying lifelong over his long lost relationship.
