what i love with drummers (i want to be one too one day) is they seems like really playing around having fun but I know, even I don’t understand a lot of technical stuff happening there at the same time. Awesome Steve Jordan groove!

I have seen some of the most legendary drummers solo.Steve Jordan friggin blew me away when I saw him in Vegas about 3 years ago. He is the pocket, goove/funk master. He is my man. When are people goint to understand that soloing isn't about going around your drum kit doing a bunch of boring fills and double bass crap. This is awesome.
@SuperStig238 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more, in my 40 yrs in the music business it's been my experience the larger the kit the worse the player, if you are auditioning a drummer, make him play without ANY cymbals, 2 toms, snare, Kick and Hi-Hat if he can't get a good groove going on a basic kit then forget it.Wonder why John Bonham and Ringo sounded so good, a plain minimal kit well tuned and played to perfection, same with Purdy, Gadd and Steve Jordan. I think the best all around player is Jordan, he can groove like Purdy, Rock like Bonham and everything in-between
@AudioTraceurMusic7 жыл бұрын
Of course, Steve Gadd uses four toms... Peart has a monster of a kit... Buddy Rich even used three and four toms at times. I don't think a large kit is indicative of anything. We'd hardly say that the best pianists use smaller pianos, so why the double standard for a drummer?
@bcdrummer19627 жыл бұрын
Actually you are right - large or small kit, many or no cymbals......it's what you do musically that matters. Charlie Watts, Steve Smith, Terry Bozzio - just randomly calling out 3 drummers with S, M, L kits......is one "better" than the others? They are all musical giants. Art Blakey said that you should be able to sit at any kit and play great if you are a real drummer. He is right IMO!
