He set his own bed on fire - fell asleep drugged, drunk and with a cigarette - he only has himself to blame. And I have read biographies about him- he wasn't a very nice person - he was awful to Ronnie Lane who had MS - accused him of being drunk! Recollections vary regarding Marriot.

I was lucky to see him in Rehoboth DE. We can came back down for second day soundcheck and Marriott bought me a beer and played pinball with me. We had good weed and got invited onto the bus after that show. Spent some time with Goldie talking about the Vietnam war. How lucky to have caught time with Marriott just before his passing.

Oh my God...how sad. 😢 Mr Marriott, live on, if only for the generations that never saw, and maybe never will, know what you did to change attitudes of small minds to make the world a more tolerant and accepting place for new generations. Maybe you didn't even know. I can't talk for anyone else, but people like you made a huge difference to the difficult childhood my sister and I had. We became brave enough to leave our home in secret one night, hitch-hike across australia as far away as we could get and take our chances on the streets. I know that sounds dramatic to people reading this. But it wasn't then. We did do it a bit tough. Anyway, many years ago now and much water under the bridge since then. Thank you. RIP ❤

Blimey.......that made me shiver.........agree with all the comments.....I never knew any of his later stuff was recorded I saw him and the other players in this band at the Irish Centre in Digbeth Birmingham and he was wearing a bib and brace trousers then .....he died a few weeks later what a loss to Rock RIP Stevie you will never be forgotten......and thanks for this amazing video

His voice never failed him. He had an exceptional gift with his vocal abilities that have never been adequately acknowledged. His musical genius is a sad aspect of the blues and rock that has been overlooked or tragically never placed amongst the greats of Rock and Roll, not to mention the Blues.

I used to see him at the Torrington in North Finchley regularly. Wonderful show Fridays and Sundays. Now a coffee shop. The Moss Hall Tavern and the Standard in Walthamstow went for a Burton too.
