So fun to see Peaty struggling a bit with sharlping corners ahah, because I don't understand the movement myself. Made feel better to see this legend not getting it that perfect!

The trick seems to be to come in quite square, have the front wheel hit the berm at a sharp angle then unweight the rear wheel completely so it arcs around into the berm. Pretty pointless imo as you lose all your speed and make your tyre wear out twice as quick. I prefer a good old round Sam Hill drift where he actually carries a shitload of speed while skipping half the turn..

you don't become one of the best riders in the whole world for 20 years and lose it after a couple of years of not competing. he'd still be fast AF even if he's not trying

I started riding DH and such in 2001. Did it on and off until 2010. Trying to come back now and with the changes in bikes and riding styles it's like a whole different sport than I remember! This video pretty much nails it. So cool to see!

When I was a young racer you guys offered me a place on the syndicate team...it was through Hook it Sports many many years back. I couldn’t afford the kit to be on the team though I sure do wish I bought it all on credit and see where it took me....to all you young racers out there...just keep it up...keep your head up and know that some races will end harshly while others will set the tempo for many years...just keep at it.

Interesting note said here about how much Berm is in modern Trails. As fun as they are, I feel its taken out a lot of the Challenge. The Trails we built 20years ago would catch you off guard real fast, mostly due to the clandestine nature of old school track building, but for all their faults I think added more challenge, But way less refinement, not that I want that back really.

I can't 'shralp' but it seems you need to get the tyres sliding on the loose stuff on the inside and eventually grip on the berm half way through the corner.

Cool video, I think once your around berms enough you realize sometimes the are overkill and you don't need the who thing, and if your trying to get down the mountain fast you might not need much of it, or any of it. I got disqualified from a NORBA DS event because I didn't use a usless berm but pedaled through it on the flat on the inside while still being on the correct side of the gate, sports politics.
@pjplay75234 жыл бұрын

I suspect Peaty and the old school technique is due to being more gentle/smooth on the bike/wheels/tires due to them being more likely to break back then.
@jfnurod4 жыл бұрын
On his race runs Loris enters the turns hot, turns in aggressively and abruptly which compresses his suspension at turn in and at the exit the rebound accelerates him out. Back to back turns you will see him gaining speed in areas some are losing time.
