Former Journey lead singer Steve Perry has been in isolation for almost 25 years. In a heart-wrenching story about death, life & survival, Steve tells Pete WHY and WHO helped him make a comeback to singing. Steve also answers IF he'll ever reunite with Journey and how the 2005 White Sox got his phone number to bring him to town. Take some time and listen to one of the best interviews this year!

That is such an interesting way to put that, follower. You hear certain celebrities comment about selling their souls. And I think that you’re right! Steve wasn’t willing to sell his soul! Very perceptive of you & good call. Steve, you run your own life. You’re doing a fine job.

li agree Noone is replaceable. And others can try to sing like him but noone can sound jiust like lhim. First of all Steve has soulful singing and he holds the notes like no other Both of the two that replaced him can sing in his tone to them but they dont have his dept of soul sounds and Arnel that was the last one to tour with Journey to replace him was too choppy on his songs.. NOONE Sounds just like Steve if you grew up listening to Journey since they had Steve Perry! And I dont even have to look you can tell by listening I totally agree! He s a one and only.. Just look in his eyes you see his soul it tells how he feels

Disagree. Steve is one of a kind. Some people can sound like someone else but he sang it, but even more, he wrote it and created it. Everyone else is just karaoke

The most heartbreaking part of this interview is that Steve Perry doesn't believe his own voice is all that good. His voice sent shockwaves through my soul when I was young. God gifted him with a voice no one else will ever have. It penetrates someone's life and digs up the depths of their soul. I am so sorry he lost the love of his life. I hope he realizes how many lives he has touched because of his personal involvement in making beautiful music.

I couldn’t understand why he stopped singing because to me he had the greatest voice of my formative years. Now I’m older and understand he is a human like the rest of us. There are phases of our lives. Sometimes we have to say goodbye to an awesome part of life because we burn out, a loved one dies or we can’t do what we used to do. I understand him now. Good for him for putting his life first. I can relate. Maybe that’s why he is still with us and enjoying life.

I remember that someone, maybe an MTV vj, in the early 80s, asked Billy Squier who his favorite contemporary singers were. Steve has the voice of an ArchAngel. His music has literally changed the World and made it a better place. Neal’s skills on the Guitar 🎸 also have just as much power as Steve’s Voice. I can't believe he doesn't realize the gift God gave him is not only his phenomenal voice, but his interpretation and delivery of the song...And he WRITES as well. He is blessed and he passes that blessing on to all of us.. Oh how we missed you...but I respect your decision to know you had to leave to save yourself and that you would not be giving the fans 100% like you had always given them. Thank God for Kellie.. It’s easy to understand why he had to walk away from the band - he is a deeply sensitive incredible artist and touring and dealing with egos and the business end of his career would have been totally draining! When he sang with Journey he gave his all-110% to his craft and fans. His voice is the soundtrack of my youth and always brings me back to that easier time in my life - so glad he is with us again and look forward to getting his new music- God Bless you Steve Perry! No one can replace you - most incredible and emotive singer I believe ever! 💗

Saw Journey with Steve Perry twice back in 1980s-most phenomenal live band performances ever!! EVER!!!!! Steve was the voice of that great band-and as amazing as their music was recorded-it was even more astounding how great they were live. Unlike so many bands and singers that sound great on a record or on the radio-Journey and Steve Perry sounded even better live. Steve Perry is by far the greatest Rock Ballad singer of all time-and I feel blessed to have heard and witnessed his performances with Journey. Those were important days in my life and always will be. I am a Steve Perry and Journey fan for life-and I have shared the joy from their music with my kids and grandkids-who also love it.

I was lucky enough to see Journey with Steve in 1981 and 1983. Great shows and yes he was a great singer for sure. Journey was a part of the soundtrack of my youth along with Van Halen, Rush, Judas Priest, Kiss, Motley Crue etc, etc. I could go on and on. I saw all those bands in concert back in the early and mid 1980's. If you're my age (59) you also remember the tickets back then were around 10 dollars! Wow! I sure do miss them days back then.

Man I wish my kids had some of the concert experiences I had. We went to see everyone without even thinking about the price. It’s sickening what some bands charge for tickets now. The average price for a ticket to Kiss’s farewell tour is $170. We spent our own money back then too. There’s no way kids now could do that. Sadly.

I think all his fans wish he would write about his life, but I don't think he's going to do it. I had heard him in a prior interview address this question and he said that he wouldn't like to gossip. However, I wish he looked at it a different way, as part of the cultural history of those years and of rock & roll.

The years have come and gone. The musical genres have changed time and again. The lyrics, the music, the passion…it’s just not been duplicated in decades. Years…decades, after these songs were written and recorded, and they still pull at so many emotions, and are so thought provoking…it’s wild.

Times passes and people evolve within their own lives, but one single thing has persisted in my life. Back when he was active I was in the military, married and raising a family, I dreamed of seeing him but I couldn’t afford it. Then, he was gone and I grieved that loss for the world. Now, I’m a grandfather, raising and adopting them (May 25th). My deep desire to again hear his voice persists within me and as I go back over interviews like this, I still have that hope. I did have an opportunity and saw Journey, without Steve. My ear is such that I just couldn’t embrace the moment. While I loved and love the band it is just not the same without hearing him. A close resemblance is not enough for me. Please, if you do read this, I am a no body in Southern Delaware and I miss you…..I am truly sorry for the life’s challenges you have faced, but I am proud you worked (and work) toward healing the right way. You have given more then you could know and your obvious humility shins as an example to us. Please try to give us all an opportunity we long for….your fans have never wavered and we are here, hopefully waiting for you.
