Jason. To echo your point about busting ass to make something happen. I wanted a 2x72 grinder so I worked extra outside my 9-5 and sold a bunch of stuff that was just collecting dust and in 6 weeks I had enough to order a brand new grinder and belts to go with it. So If you really want it....get after it!

Some of the best advice here! Jason isn’t a blacksmith because he has all of these fancy equipment and tools. He has all the fancy equipment and tools because he is a blacksmith. It takes time, it takes baby steps. But if you keep going, keep stepping , and don’t stop, all the tools and toys will come.

Just walked to a place to apply for a part time job. I will save up for the Wilmot grinder. Also I will be making my first knife sheaths soon, I have to finish a few more knives, I really like pops knife supply, they have 80crv2 in 3foot section for 40 bucks its about 55 after shipping, not bad for good steel.

This is a technical question. I saw a smith using aluminum foil to line his canisters for damascus and was curious if this is viable or not. What is your opinion??

Jason my name is Russell, I was wondering if you could get your camera man film inside the shop as when they fim towards the roller door the shot becomes burred. I hope this helpful.

What do you recommend for your work stick or handle for the Damascus billet? Rebar, mild steel rod, med to high carbon rod? Just saved up for a chili forge, and am ready to jump in the deep end! I have the forged series, but don’t remember he handle material being addressed. Cheers!

I love the content, but your camera guy needs some serious practice and constructive learning on how to run a camera. The eposure when you guys were trying to show any detial was horrible and he was super shaky throughout the video.

I recently bought a D2 steel 4 mm thick knife blank on Ebay. It is supposed to be hardened to 58-60 HRC. But I have easily cut a 1/4 x 6 inch section from the handle portion of the blank with a cutoff wheel. And filed that smooth using a Husky file set purchased from Home Depot. This is my first knife build. So it didn't occur to me right away. That something might be wrong here. But it seems to me that I shouldn't be able to do this at all. If this were tempered D2 steel. Can anyone with knowledge of D2 tool steel help me out with this?

@ORflycaster3 жыл бұрын
They're called Australian Cattle Dogs (Blue or Red Heelers for short), but they've lived here in the US too for the last 100+ years. They're a fantastic breed IF you're not a lazy dog person, and appreciate what they offer.

Anyone from UK here? I'm having a hard time finding 2x72 belts any good place i can get them? . Im setting my self up for some time now I've made a forge and 2 burners handmade anvil and at the moment I'm building a grinder I'm about half way there now but was researching belts and having a hard time finding something local. Im from northern ireland antrim. The grinder im making will take both 2x72 belts and with 2nd set of rollers will be able to put 75mm by 2m as well I can get the 75x2m but 2x72 hard to find... im struggling with my forge to go up to welding temp as well have ceramic2" and castolite all around would anyone know good place to buy kiln wash? Thanks and Jason always great watching yor videos thanks for shearing your passion with us . Sometimes I wish I went for diffrent hobby because this is very expensive but I love the fact you can create something by hand and say ive made it and did not buy it. Im fabricator by trade but forging is completely diffrent ball game and doing my best to keep pushing forward setting up the shop still a long way but will get there:) . Thanks for the inspiration to start this. Great work Jason all of you guys working with Jason .

Had to play detective to find this. You started the series calling it the Junk Yard knife, then randomly you call it Steve Schwarzer Live. If you hadn't said his name in the other videos, I wouldn't have figured it out. I know, it wouldn't have been an issue if I just watched all the videos. Eventually, I will.

Something I didn't expect to learn from this, was the importance of a reliable spot to put your drink. I think the first thing I forge will be a pritchel hole cup holder.
