Every Laura needs a Steve. We watched the ups and downs of true love in comedic form right in front of our young eyes. Steve would have died without Laura. But, the funny part is, she always knew that he was the one person for her. So Steve was willing for Laura. #FACTS.

Beautifully stated! I love how Steve fiercely protected Laura and always had her back. It was also great watching Laura develop that same sense of protection over Steve throughout the show. Their relationship is more complex and intriguing when you watch their actions and not just listen to their words.

I think Laura always knew that in her heart, but in her head, she did not until she was mature enough to not care what others think (even when she did agree to date Steve, she caught ridicule for it from her own family members, and Carl even laughed in Steve's face when he announced he was going to propose marriage to Laura, granted Carl still gave Steve his blessing).

This was one the blueprints to teenage to young adult real black love. Back when there was no cellphone.... we have to communicate and express ourselves creatively to show our truly feelings in real time. Steve and Laura made the 90's fun for me. Don't forget Myra. She was amazing. The title of the show spoke volumes and values "Family Matter".... I appreciate the lesson learned from this show. Great KZbin video #thankful ...... PEACE!!

Excellent video on what I've always said about this show. Laura has always loved Steve and really if it ever came down to it, she would never let him leave her. And for the Family Matters enthusiasts, was there ever any episode when Laura had a birthday? I don't remember one episode where she had a birthday.

I'm just noticing your question. Laura's 15th birthday was on an episode called "Old and Alone." Season3, episode 11.

That was explored in season 2's "Dedicated to the One I Love," when Laura told Steve to give up, it's never going to happen, but then pointed him toward Suzie Crenshaw, after Suzie told Laura she was lucky Steve wanted Laura but Suzie wished Steve liked her. Steve actually did date Suzie for two weeks (even though it was only to get Suzie to "come out of her shell" so he could introduce her to someone else), and he left Laura alone, and Laura later admitted right to Steve's face that for a second, she actually missed his "obnoxious grating presence."
