These great guitar players like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani should just stick to playing instrumentals because when they bring in a vocalist with good lyrical content it just sounds to cheesy. It always seems to me that these songs are always geared towards the guitar and instrumental arrangements and it takes away from the lyrical content and the great singing from someone like Devin Townsend. Devin Townsend leaving Steve Vai and forming Strapping Young Lad was the best thing that Devin did back in the mid 1990s. His music with Strapping Young Lad blows this music with Steve Vai away by alot. With Devin Townsend in Strapping Young Lad and with his solo projects Devin Townsend proved that he is not just a great vocalist but a top level songwriter as well.

It's hilarious that stupid fucking Ricky has no clue that he's sitting in front of a genius in Devin as he keeps kind of talking down to him, Like Steve Vai isn't capable of picking out extraordinary musicians. This was by far the best Steve Vai band line up, Steve, Devin, Terry Bozzio, and TM Stevens, fucking incredible and way to ahead of it's time. I played this cd so many times I actually wore 2 of them out learning the songs on guitar, fast forwarding, pausing, and replaying certain sections over and over. Devin's vocals on this album are stellar.

@@christianrosfontanus9773 It isn't necessarily all that surprising. He has bipolar disorder. So it depends on the drug the person but a lot of people with mental illness use drugs to slow down, speed up, and/or generally medicate which would definitely be understandable given the Devin in this video and the knowledge that he's bipolar. Common understanding is that drugs make you erratic and while that's definitely a common occurrence sometimes people are *already* erratic and try to use drugs to try and be normal. Not saying this is the case with Devy but it wouldn't surprise me. It's entertaining as all fuck to watch in this video but if we're real he's going absolutely ballistic.
