When I moved from the UK to South Africa, they "lost" my Revv Generator 120 for nearly a month. Thankfully I was able to take my main guitar with me in the cabin. If you haven't already done it, may I suggest that Steve and/or the production company invest in asset trackers... They are USB sized GPS devices that you can remotely switch on and off. They usually have an accuracy of around 25m radius. At least you'll know before the plane takes off, whether or not the gear is aboard, or still in the terminal and can make arrangements before takeoff, rather than after the delay of a long flight. For the missing top end and middle frequencies, the 29 Pedals "Euna" and "Oamp" are phenomenal. They will give you that missing headroom. I definitely feel for you guys. Playing gigs with unfamiliar kit is not fun, no matter how high one's skill level is.
@DanteFrisiello11 ай бұрын
We've got air tags on literally everything! They're great. With airlines usually there's just nothing you can do except hope... Doug takes better care of Steve's gear than most people take care of their own health :) he is an absolute legend and it's really thanks to him we were even able to play at all! He tricked out all those fan guitars in like 2 hours to get them playing right for Steve and also had packed carefully enough to have sufficient back-up rig options to make the gig even work.
@theorc909811 ай бұрын
@@DanteFrisiello Thanks for replying. Doug sounds like the kind of bloke who secretly relished the idea. Probably rubbed his hands together thinking "At last! Thats some next level stuff right there wooo
@DanteFrisiello11 ай бұрын
Haha yeah man it definitely happens, though in my experience it is pretty rare for that much gear to be lost or left behind. Frankly I think checking is the safer option because you can put your guitars in a real rugged case meant for getting beat up, rather than a gig bag that then might get gate checked. On this tour we also had a broken headstock on one of Steve's guitars, I think it was FLO III, because it was gate checked. You roll the dice either way unfortunately.

Out of interest, has Steve let you play his guitars? Or does he not like other people playing them?
@DanteFrisiello11 ай бұрын
Yeah I've played them but mostly in difficult situations like when I was auditioning at a soundcheck and had to play his guitar with the low strap and scalloped frets EEKK lol or when I broke a string once during my solo and Fire (my tech at the time) ran out with Evo and I had to play the slide on that thing... we like our set ups quite different. His action is super high and strings are different and it's not my thing haha

Tone is not in the hands ,the way he plays is brain to hands,sound and tone is gear choices of course vai allways sounds like him,its the choices he makes notes vibrato composition etc ,u keep jappin tone is different yeah buddy because he is forced to use different gear ,gear that changes things not hands ,his hands dictates the way he plays

No doubt, a guitar is a guitar. They sound different of course but at the end of the day it's the same instrument!
