Steve lived at number 70 and I lived at 98 in the same road in the 60’s... as my mom brought me home from school you couldn’t get through the throngs of girls screaming outside his house. I asked my mom what he did as a job. “He’s a pop star son..” “I’m gonna be one of them then...” I replied.I didn’t quite reach his giddy heights but am still having fun trying. Two pop stars born 14 doors away a decade or so apart.... it was never going to happen was it? His parents were lovely and Mrs Winwood used to give Steve demo tapes my band had recorded... I’d like to claim I inspired ‘Arc of a Diver’ but I didn’t!

One thing I noticed watching this is that Steve clearly has arthritis in his hands. I was surprised he was still playing keyboards. Talked to my girlfriend about this, she's a massage therapist, and she said that for many musicians the only time their hands don't hurt is when they are playing. I love this guy and definitely will try to see him on this tour! Still has the voice too!

Note the picture of the banned Blind Faith album cover on Steve Winwood's wall, behind him in some of the shots. It came out a couple of years after "Gimme Some Lovin" came out. We had heard about this new supergroup with Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Rich Grech. We couldn't wait for their album to come to record stores. This was before there was such a thing as digital delivery of music. We learned the release date and then, on that day, waited for the record store to open so we could buy it and listen to it. But then, when the store opened, the clerk said that the album was recalled, since its cover was banned. We were stunned, and disappointed. And angry. But a few days later we got a copy with the new approved cover. "Can't Find My Way Home" by Steve Winwood was my favorite song on that album. I've always liked his work. Back when he was with Spencer Davis and Blind Faith, in the 1960's, I was in high school. We had cliques like any school has. Some kids listened to soul music, and some listened to hippie psychedelic music. But Steve Winwood could bridge these styles. Now that I'm hearing it again, "Gimme Some Lovin" is incredibly soulful. In fact, come to think of it, "Can't Find My Way Home" was also really soulful, plus also one of the most cerebral songs I heard when I was young. I used to see him when he played in the Milwaukee area back then. It's over 5 decades later now, and I'm glad to see that he's still touring. I hope he returns to the Pacific Northwest.

I was 19 when this was released, purchased the single from my local record shop in Woking. Drove my mum crazy playing it over and over in my bedroom.

I love the dog walking around while Steve is playing. Makes him human in addition to being a genius.

How many times has he sung this song? And yet it never grows old.

This is undoubted one of the most propulsive Soul/ Rock songs in history of music. You can't help tapping your toes right from the first strains of this song . The organ is outstanding and his Ray Charles like vocals are drenched with soul

I love the small dog walking around in the background of Steve’s place. No where have they mentioned one of Steve’s best friends is Eric Clapton!

I spent my teenage early years sneaking into dance halls and heard this joyous, rocking song played and I would dance my tootsies off to it! Still as hot as it was back in the mid sixties!

Steve Winwood is a gifted and humble multi-instrumental musician. His music is so good. I saw him twice live, when he was opening up for Tom Petty.

Can you imagine having this fantastically cool guy as your grandfather?! He looks like a grandfather here and his studio/home is very English/cosy, but then he lets rip with these awesome sounds and lyrics. It must be fantastic at Christmas. 😃

I saw Stevie Winwood in concert at Veterans Home Lone Amphitheater in Virginia Beach a few years ago. He was on the same Bill as Steely Dan. This the last tour with Walter Becker before he died. It was nothing less than awesome. Winwood even played lead guitar with Steely Dan on Reeling in the Years while Becker played rhythm guitar.

Thank you Steve Winwood! First heard your voice and keyboards when I was 12. Lots of water under the bridge but I'm still listening and you are still that amazing a musicman 50 years later.
