Stevie Winwood saw me through the loss of my soulmate. I listened to this over and over again, sobbing, days and nights. It touched something in my broken heart that had to accept that my 'home' was gone and expressing that you never stop looking to find your way back even with that realization. Powerful message from a man that was so young when he wrote and recorded it. The gift just flowed through him. So fortunate to have been alive when he was a troubadour.

Know what you mean Melissa. i still have Traffic albums i listen to, His voice is so easy and this song is a gem. An evocative song for me is by mike and the mechanics...The living years... Music can be so personal to us all in so many ways. Pink floyd's Comfortably Numb still makes me cry,,, i lost someone too. Steve is a very talented and superb musician/songwriter and long may he remain so x

I was flipping through channels a couple of years before Letterman ended his show. He was finishing up his monologue and said 'Paul, you have one of your friends with us tonight right?' The camera switched to the band area and Winwood was standing at one of the keyboards next to Paul. They kicked right into "Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys". Well, Paul's band was fantastic anyway but with Winwood I swear to god that song sounded better than I've ever heard it. It was amazing. About halfway through I realized I was standing up with my mouth hanging open like an idiot. It was tremendous. One of the best musical performances I've ever seen on TV.
