I clicked on this video with some scepticism. 'Yet another repetitive landscape composition youtube video'?. I was pleasantly surprised. Some very useful and memorable tips. Subscribed. Thanks.

Great way to present this topic. And yes you are correct - we should not get stuck with norms, standards, or laws. The fundamental purpose of photography is not to click away and snap pictures but to create something that captures the eyes of the viewers. In a way his curiosity makes him follow the lines and triggers his brain to think about what he sees, waking up emotions of memories, in the typical pose of a viewer in an Art Gallery. Photographers with the technical skill and the creative gift of nature to create are no longer Photographers - but visual Artists.

A well explained and clear tutorial. Thank you. This process would be perfect to apply to other genres also. Unless the aim is for tension!

Thanks Helen, yes I agree. Great for other genres. When it comes to compositions that create tension, then what I'm suggesting here becomes another rule to break haha

Hi Steve, would love to see a video out and about 👍

Hey Marty, cheers. An on-scene / on-location video would take me for ever haha. You'd see all the cuts in the video where I mess up my lines so often the sun would be in a completely different spot 🤣

There is probably a book where all this is written.
@SteveArnoldPhoto13 күн бұрын
yeah there's probably a video too

This is the fundamental of art - not just photography. And I assume somebody wrote a book in that category. I suggest you consult with a wise librarian.

There was a fanboy preaching the rules of thirds. My reply to him was when doing press photography and bullets are flying around you do not have time fi=or ruels of thirds! you aim the camera and hope the hell you do not get shot!
