Thanks, I didn't know what trigger was and you explained it well. I could automate the %wet/dry if I wanted to have, say, a bass overlaid with a kick and have different beats be more bass or more kick... Going to have to check this out, thanks man!

So some things to note, he already did this maybe by accident, but, have your samples off of the desktop or anywhere that is Icloud (backupable (? that the word?). So keep those sorts of things in your documents folder, makes your mac not have to work as hard tbh. As well as, SSD drumkits like 4/5 that I know of, all require a base directory to be appointed in the plugin itself!

I’m curious how people use trigger with a slow crescendo build on drums. I have a slow build part on kick, snare and floor and it’s failing to trigger the samples on the quietest parts

@@raymondcharles5580 I think so, but you you have to convert the samples to the Trigger 2 format - there's a lot you can do but the attraction is the simplicity of drum replacement, not sure about pitch change in the plugin itself?

This overview is fantastic. Wow! I have 2 questions, if you have the time to answer. 1. Does this plugin giving you the ability to quantize, or move a drum hit or 2 if they are slightly off the beat, or do you need to do that with the original audio file? 2. Is this plugin and samples geared more towards metal, or are there samples to use with Rock/Pop? They sound amazing, but I've noticed that every tutorial I've seen is on a metal song. Just looking for an opinion. Thanks.

Quantize the audio file in your session, I don’t believe Slate has that option. Slate does have some good samples for rock, country, indie, etc.

when I click on a sample to load, the name of the sample in one of the 8 slots has red writing and I cannot hear it. Any ideas?

I just got trigger 2, but I haven't yet been able to use it... I can load my sample libraries under the "settings tab," and all of the library folders show up, but the files for the actual samples themselves (which are in the folders on my computer, I double checked) won't appear in the Trigger browser. The folders just appear as if they are empty in Trigger. There's a folder for kick drums under each of my SSD5 libraries (and SSD4 libraries), but it's as if Trigger 2 doesn't recognize that any samples are in them. Can anyone explain why this isn't working?

I can’t get a good floor Tom sound with it . I find them boomy and ringy and just don’t seem to fit with a kit does anybody know if I can use my ssd samples with trigger ? That would be ace 🤩

Just curious, when loading up individual kicks or snares etc from the Samples that come with Trigger, are you just basically relying on what you like or what sounds good in the sense that I noticed when you load up the Individual hits from lets say a kick, they dont seem to name them very well, but when you listen to them its fairly easy to tell if its and inside/outside mic vs a room mic but, are they just expecting you to be able to pick out an inside kick vs an outside kick etc?

I have some old demos where the drums were recorded in Mono using two mics, one on the Snare and one on the Kick. Is there any software that would turn convert those to separate midi tracks?

You could use Logic Pro's drum replacement tool to convert the transients into MIDI notes; however, it will not separate the kick and snare on individual notes, you'd have to go through and do that manually. But it can be done.

Question, in using Trigger 2, how come when I use a one shot snare crack sample (from That Sound) it will almost double itself on the playback, almost like a flam when it's not.... frustrating! Any leads?

Yep, I do that all the time. Just make an FX send off your Aux to a buss and print it to another audio track. Then you can work with an audio and not the plug-in.

Too much bleed. I've done it several times. Trying to heavily compress a snare with a bunch of hi-hat bleed is no fun.

MusicTechHelpGuy this is true, having the snare gated helps a lot with that though. (I like to use Drum Leveler for that)

I love Drum Leveler too, but gates don't work on the hi-hat when the snare and HH play at the same time. Hence, why for Rock and more punchy music, I always find my self tucking a snare sample in there.

MusicTechHelpGuy There's a bunch of methods to deal with that. Such as ddrum trigger to trigger a noise gate. Or the snare phase trick to duck high end when the snare hits.

Why didn't you EQ/ Compress/ Reverb/ Gate the original drum tracks? Using samples on top of the original kit is kinda overkill. I would only enhance the kick/ snare/ toms with Trigger, but not completely replace them. I could take your original drum tracks and make them shine like they should be doing in the first place.
