We have similar setups...got the subPac too...that is where it is at! only way to do it - you cant HEAR the ultra low stuff..u gotta feel it..people dont understand it it, We bass players do! just got the vsx - how do you listen to music for an hour? Do you have to import the music into your DAW? It'd be great to be able to listen to apple music with these through the VSX plugin - Is this possible?

Danny Dyson if you're using a mac, Audio Hijack or Soundsource are great options. I've read there are similar options to monitor systemwide for Pc as well (Equalizer APO may be one) Also if you use any UA interface you can run the audio through a virtual channel and monitor through your daw

Been using Waves NX, and love the emulation. Was thinking about getting some type of sub pack for haptic feedback, really feel that bass. I’ve got speakers that I can crank to get there, but if I turn it up anything longer than 5 minutes, I piss off family members. You’re the first youTube channel I’ve seen doing a similar combo. Good to hear that it’s an immersive experience. That’s what my hope is.

I'm thinking about getting these. This was a great video! Personally I'm used to mixing in headphones (and non studio mixing headphones 🙃) like the Sony XMB Xtra bass series (which some of those are better than others actually). For non mixing headphones, they're OK but I think something like this would be better. I create a lot of different genres but I would like some mixing headphones that can handle heavy bass/lower tones/frequencies because I mainly make a lot of Metal (Metalcore/Deathcore) and Hip-Hop so I need something that can definitely handle bass drops and hard kick drums, etc. Anyway, thanks for making this video! Hope your new year is going well!

I am still working my way through all of the emulations. They are really trippy once you listened for some time. The Archon Studio (Midfields (ATC)) will be your go-to's guaranteed.

@@SoniqSounds If you're on a Mac there are a couple of workarounds (Audio Hijack, Soundsource) probable a few others. They let you use your au plugin to monitor systemwide. There are options for PC as well.

How do you compare these with your DT990? You mentioned you have DT's calibrated with sonarworks, what if you run room emulation after that instead of using VSX headphones? Asking because 990's are open back, I also have those and i love them, but how does that compare? Thanks

Just tried it. For me, using the VSX software with the dt990's introduced some wierd phase shifty artifacts. Seems that something about Slates Binaural Perception Modeling just calls for using his headphones. Im still testing everything, but I may go back and forth between the calibrated dt990 and the VSX Linear emulation for clinical referencing. They more or less sound the same.

Thanks for watching! For me, having the headphones is a compliment to the monitor setup. I would do both if possible. If I had to choose, it would be based on what I’m likely to use more, headphones or monitors. The VSX emulations are a plus though. You’ll definitely get a ton of mileage out of them.

As someone that saw through the hype, I'm still interested in them. The reason being my setup is in a caravan. I might be streaming a lot of what I do. And I need to keep sound down a little. I'm currently looking at a set of MTM ilouds and a pair of C50A's as my ns10 type monitor. Now with these, I get room correction and the fact others can hear my music. Which is necessary if there are people coming wanting to sing or rap on something. It will be easier to get used to the speakers because they can be playing while I do other things. But at the same time, if these can give me so good feedback after I have gotten used to them then they might do the job better than the speakers. Considering the speakers I am fitting to get. Will you be doing a review again after using these for a while?

Thanks for the video! Anyone use these with Cubase? I can get it to work if I add it as an insert on a track, but if I try to do what the official tutorial shows, adding it on main or headphones under CR, I run into issues. First off, I don't have a headphones option, so I have Monitors or Main. If I add it to either, I don't hear hardly any effect, and the level is very boosted (my audio interface pretty much sends everything into the red). Any help is appreciated. I am an amateur composer but have never really done careful mixing or mastering so got these and figured I should give it a try, but a bit confused right now. LOL

Please help, just got my VSX headphones but everything seems to be heard normal like a normal headphone, or even muffled n worse, what am i doing wrong here, was so excited to get them, put it on the master channel last in the chain, even the depth knob does not work no 3 d room effect like everyone says, the bypass button only increases the volume but no change in the sound, dunno what im doing wrong please help.

Man - I use sonarworks with my AT M50X and DT880 PROs. I was thinking of using this cause I'm in a less-than-ideal space, and I have to mix on cans. VSX is *way* cheaper than a set of HD800s... and the payment plan seems attractive...

I bought mine a year and a half ago, and they were the second batch after they ran out and supposedly improved them. I’ve been using them, and I think the software is good, but with light used in just my home studio, (only me) the metal headband snapped. I taped that up and about a week later the other snapped. I have been treating them like they were made of solid gold because I read about all the complaints and they broke anyway. The bad part is the incredibly suck support from Stephen slate. No answer whatsoever to two phone calls and three emails. Nada. A company that has got to be just loaded and can’t afford to take care of its customers over such an obvious defect. This is absolutely shameful. Don’t buy this crap product unless you want to throw away 400 bucks.

not really. got mine and am satisfied. price was good for what they offered. u jus a lil beach. grown ass man crying about a purchase he made himself. u were willing to pay the peice in the first place but when there is a better deal u scream ripoff. did steven slate walk into your bedroom and rob u while you were sleeping? no. u eez a lil beach with selfmade problems, slandering a great company, who makes truly amazing products that people wholeheartedly recommend and appreciate.
