Hence the reason why Pink Diamond's Pearl hasn't reverted back to her original self here.)

That was dark for a toddler. Personally if I was giving my baby a colony I'd make sure it wasn't inhabited to begin with like Mars or Neptune. And I let her choose how she wants to run it, it can be a sanctuary or a colony upstart or a diplomatic place where we can coexist with the local inhabitants. But that's just me.
