I liked peridot before she was popular. When I first saw her, I thought to myself "I'm really gonna like this character. I always thought that Sugar wrote Jasper like that because she was supposed to be that unpredictable character who changes their mind just for the heck of it. Why we love Lapis 1.) Her elegant and beautiful design. From her dress, slim physique, and hair, she might as well put on a blue dress with white polka dots and have a picnic with you. 2.) She's mysterious. The first really new gem we see. She has an interesting backstory and has depth in her character (like Pearl and Peridot) 3.) She might be the most individually strong gem we know. Even Jasper describes her power as "monstrous." At least with water she is.

+Calebite SPOILERS of leaked SU teasers Well with the new teasers for super watermelon island and barn mates we know Jasper gained control of the fusion. Lapis does seem to be on the crystal gems side even though she looks broken as hell. We do not physically see Jasper in any of the teasers (she could have been bubbled or ran off). Jasper doesn't seem to be redeemable since (Just guessing here) she used a gem de-stablizer Garnet and gave Steven a black eye. Lapis on the other hand appears to be in good terms with Steven. Yes, she attempted to drown Connie and him but that could've been because the gems were there. All in all, I think Jasper can change it's just going to take a lot longer (example: Peridot having shifting loyalties for a while.)

+Hyperion Nexus I saw the leaks, and that isn't confirmed. Malachite could have very well lost herself (as hinted in Steven's dream), and combined their personalities. Lapis has never liked the CGs, and has never particularly SUPPORTED fusion, so it's hard to tell. Also, Alexandrite said "you two need to spend some time apart." She never said "you need to stay away from Lapis" or anything.

I like how amethyst grew up visualy and mentaly. At the Start of the show she was short goofy and had shorter hair and was always hiding in guilt of being an over cooked runt. And now after reformed and too far she got a bit taller her clothing is fixed and she has longer hair that covers half her face and has come to terms with her past but is still a bit touchy.

I wish jasper had been higher on the list, we don't know much about her but we've been told that she's a complex character and I wish more people liked her(also, she's super hot). But one thing that really put me on edge in this video is ONCE AGAIN, someone said that lapis fused with jasper to protect steven, which SHE DID NOT. It is specifically stated by Rebecca Sugar herself that lapis trapped jasper in malachite for REVENGE. She was tired of everyone imprisoning her so she wanted to imprison someone herself, which is kind of a dick move. But, yeah, just wanted to get that out there because every time I watch a video with lapis or jasper in it, this shit gets brought up again. And frankly, I'm tired of it.

blue diamond was gonna crack ruby bc they were the first ever gems to fuse with a different gem type, before fusion was only with the same gems and its considered a "taboo" on home world so thats why jasper is p much against it (sorta) also when gem shard episode happened when garnet says "its all my fault" its because ruby and sapphire gave home world the idea of fusing other gems together :^))

Very interesting. In two major polls on /r/steven universe on Reddit, Pearl came in first, followed by Peridot in a close second, and Lapis third. I wonder if the favorite Gem changes depending on which group of fans you talk to? For example, Lapidot shippers would, of course, be more likely to vote for Lapis and Peridot.

Why do people like Lapis so much? I really don't get it. I like her, but she seems a bit too overrated in my opinion. Her popularity is just... too much. Oh I know depression, sadness, gem cracked ohlala, but hey, Lapis is pretty much protected by the fanbase because, she did nothing wrong... right? (except for you know, trying to drown 2 kids, sold the Crystal Gems out to the Homeworld, and fucked up everything by fusing with Jasper. She was weakened, and the crystal gems could have easily bubbled her. But hey It's Lapis so we forgive her, right?) Don't get me wrong here, you can like Lapis of course, but stop ideolazing her. She's not worth it.

Nah I'm with you man. Lapis is a pretty damaged person but people ignore how angry and aggressive it has made her and all the less desirable aspects of her personality to make her their cute sad woobie who just needs to be shown the world is a good place. The extent of it has actually made me pretty uncomfortable seeing her in fan material and not really liking her much, even though I originally loved her character in the actual show.

i rolled my eyes when i see lapis is #1. she is way overrated. We have only got some much screen time with her. We don't know a whole lot about her other than she was trapped in the mirror for a long time and has water powers... For me there isn't enough to know about lapis to love her cause we haven't seen her character much...
