When KZbin recommended your First Reaction channel, I didn't expect much. I discovered Porcupine Tree in 2001 when I got the Stupid Dream CD for my birthday, then I noticed I kept playing it again and again. Then I saw they played the Paradiso in Amsterdam, so I went their and was totally blown away. I also bought ''Returning Jesus'' by NoMan, SW's collaboration with Tim Bowness, an amazingly beautiful album. Since then I bought the whole back catalogue - a real goldmine- , saw them 40+- times live, was even in the dressing room once, so I can safely say it's part of my life. Your First Reaction was so genuine that I felt the kind of emotion again that blew me away in the first place. You love the music, the musicians and, most importantly, each other, which gives the video a very authentic vibe. In that setting, most interesting comments come fom the depth of your souls. I subscibed and I liked. When he comes to play in Amsterdam in September and you can come over, I buy you tickets (hope the live shows don't get cancelled...). May I recommend the new song ""Personal Shopper'' from his forthcoming album ''The Future Bites? You will find the official video at KZbin. All the best.

I'm surprised nobody gave you this factoid but about that amazing ending solo. Guthrie Govan the guitarst completely improvised this solo, it was so good that it almost moved Steven Wilson to tears while listening too it and even though he jammed the strings so hard that it popped they still decided to keep it in because its just unbeatable.

Steven Wilson is the first to admit that he borrows from the music that inspires him, whether it's Pink Floyd, or King Crimson, or Genesis. I completely agree that he takes those things from the past and infuses them with a modern sensibility, technical mastery, brilliant composition, and world class musicianship and makes it better. The whole album that this song came from is a love letter to 70's progressive rock and it's incredible. He even tapped the great Alan Parsons to produce. You can't beat that awesome Guthrie Govan guitar solo at the end. For more great Steven Wilson music I highly recommend The Watchmaker and Luminol off this same record, or Like Dust I Have Cleared From My Eyes off of Grace for Drowning, or Ancestral from Hand Cannot Erase. I found you guys by searching for porcupine tree reactions. It's my favorite band of all time and it's fun to see people discover them for the first time. Another recommendation: In Exile or The Final Thing On My Mind or Fend For Yourself by The Pineapple Thief off the album Your Wilderness. Awesome songs in a similar vein to Porcupine Tree featuring Gavin Harrison who was Porcupine Tree's drummer.

I watch a lot of reaction vids (and have a channel myself, too) and most of them are request driven too. They all have some videos that are their own selections, but I’d say 95% requests. Also, I’m sure that I found you because of the kind of music I listen to, and possibly even a particular song I had been watching reactions to. I notice that when I see a few reactions to a particular song ( I listen to a lot of Rush, Nightwish, Tool, Unleash the Archers, etc) that KZbin starts feeding me other reactions to those same songs/bands. I’m certain that’s how I found you.

Well, they made a video game out of this song. The name of the game is "Last Day of June" The story is inspired one the song that you just reacted, and the music is composed by Steven Wilson. I'm not a big fan of video games and I'm not an emotional person, but I played this one on my PC and this game made me cry at the end. I heavily recommend you to play this and enjoy the game, story and Steven Wilson music at the same time. PS: Do more Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree. 2 more Steven Wilson .... Watchmaker ( do live SW when possy...it's another level), and Raven That Refused to Sing...and the previously mentioned Routine.... Also, a band I mentioned earlier that is very influenced by Floyd and Porcupine Tree, is Riverside. They have elements of both ,plus a little metal, tool, and something all their own. The bassist/songwriter Mariusz Duda, has also collaborated with Steven Wilson ( surprise).....try these : The Curtain Falls, Second Life Syndrome, or Escalator Shrine....this band is different from many other prog bands in that melody comes before technical complexity, yet they go there with subltety. Also, you two seem like such a lovely, and loving couple. I'm going to suggest a group again called Anathema. This album (the raven. Who refused to sing and other stories) was done in a style to sound like 70's vintage progressive rock. As far as floyd influences...he was very much influenced by floyd. In his single, voyage 34 (which is an hour long song about an acid trip) there is a floyd sound. It is there on purpose. Also, a lot of his early stuff is very experimental sounding. Reminds me of what floyd was doing after the syd era when floyd was trying to find their sound. I think steven went through same thing. And that has helped him master sound and emotion as well as mixing etc.

Totally agree with you on the Floyd note- They took Floyd (which I already loved) and somehow took it even farther. Listen to "Russia on Ice" by Porcupine Tree when you can, it's another Floyd-trip which suddenly evolves into even more. The whole Lightbulb Sun album is, really. Earlier PT is like a full-on love letter to Floyd. I sincerely recommend listening to that one, In Absentia, Deadwing (Arriving Somewhere is off that one) and Fear of a Blank Planet (Anesthetize is off that one) in one sitting. Or any PT/SW album besides the first one maybe. On the reaction channels note, most I've watched are request-driven usually, unless there's like a new album out by a band they personally love or something. Also I found you guys simply searching for Porcupine Tree reactions. Btw, did you listen to Roger Wates' 2017 album? I personally thought it was great. My favorite solo album of his. As to your request question at the end, a lot of reactors do it differently. Some set up specific days for certain bands or genres. Other days set aside for bands they haven't heard. I'm sure you're getting more requests than you can handle, so it's a good idea to sort them out somehow, so you have a good variety of stuff. I've seen some reactors that only react to the top comment on a video, which is usually going to be a song from that band, so they never end up branching out to new things.

You both are very so much correct in your opinions in my opinion. The progressive world is very exciting world a lot more colors to the rainbow a lot more textures to the feeling I can see that your dream theater fans so you must know how exciting it can be to listen to regular rock and roll and many other types of music out there that are flourishing with many different colors.. But when you have something as a wonderful written as drive home by Steve Wilson or Lazarus or conceiving you by Riverside abandoned mystery Fates warning you get something that really grab a hold of your heart and soul at both levels and leaves you wanting more leaves you wanting to go further farther into that rabbit hole of true heart songs that have lyrics to shoot poetry and your life wouldn't have been the same as you not heard it enjoyed it people not for is that not what love is about enjoying the most that you can that's good and the music is always so great so good so wonderful and passionate.. Check out arena if you can.. one more band to check out is, knight area . The album to that would be the Sun also rises I know that you guys will enjoy the song mortal Brown as well as the song called moods inspiring clouds and the gate of eternity beyond I truly love that album as well as other albums from them..
