I always hear On My Own as a spiteful song like he's had enough of heartache and now he's at that stage after the relationship where he just wants to be a single lad enjoying life without emotional attachment. But hey... Maybe that's just me 😁

On my own is definitely supposed to be like a drunken song, just being over the love life and wanting to be alone. If you notice he’s even slurring his words in the verses. It’s a great concept. Definitely one of my favorite songs

I actually heard somewhere that the cutting out effect on his vocals on Slow Hands was a result of the type of vintage mic he recorded the song with and not anything done in post production

Love love love your reaction. Flicker in my opinion was the best solo debut from the boys. Niall just has such an amazing story telling ability with his music! You should definitely check out some of his live performances now that you've heard the album. Also, Maren is an amazing country artist! She toured with Niall during the N. American portion of the Flicker tour. I think you would really like her albums.

niall is my favorite, i love his music so much. i absolutely love Flicker, the whole album it's just everything, his vocals, the lyrics, the peace it brings to my heart..... and yes he harmonizes so good with female voices, and that being said you should totally check Moral of The Story, i LOVE it (and Ashe if it pleases you, she's amazing) and about on my own: i don't think he's being sarcastic at all, i think flicker is an album about human relashionships, so people fall in love, and they want to stay in love, and having a estable relashionship means a lot in a few moments of this person life, and aparently it's not working or they are just in different moments, even when one of the parts has a flicker of hope and even if one knows that it will be the other in te end. but at the same time it is a young someone so having fun with other people is ok and normal but maybe, even having fun, in the end it's just "you and me"... its confusing but idk, that's how i feel about because that's kinda of how i feel about love like we don't have to put in one single "box" (or relashionship), we can love freely.

if you want to react to some more Niall, here are some recommendations 😉: Finally Free (soundtrack for Smallfoot) So Long with RTE Concert Orchestra (he also made an album with most of the songs of Flicker with this Orchestra, but So Long didn't make it to the original album due to production reasons) What A Time with Julia Michaels (you should also check out the live performance on the Late Late show with James Corden and the acoustic version) Moral Of The Story with Ashe

Among 1D boys Niall 's songs are on my fave genres, his songs is so easy to listen to, his lyrics are great it has clear stories and it is relatable. I was so proud of him when he released Flicker cause he was so underrated during the early years of 1D and when this was released I just thought way to go Niall you just prove all those who doubted your talents wrong! Thanks for always appreciating Niall he deserves all the love. As always I enjoyed your reactions. ❤️

Great video, Steven! Great album as well. I wasn't sure what to expect of it when Slow Hands came out, and it turned out to be a great surprise. I never thought of On My Own as ironic either, like most of the comments. Maybe the reason why it's a bonus track is exactly what you mentioned about it being thematically different (and they couldn't leave it out because it's such a great song!). Mirrors is my personal favorite, from the lyrics that hit so hard to that guitar on the third chorus!!!!!!! I'll never forget what it was like to see it live.

I loved your review of Flicker!👌I've been a subscriber for quite a long time, but am a bit newer to Instagram.😊 I am so happy you chose to go through One Direction's discography in order to get a better handle on the group. It makes it easier to now hear them as solo artists. Like I mentioned earlier, I've been a subscriber for quite a long time and you were actually the first reaction channel I subscribed to. Your content is genuine and I love that you're totally vulnerable when it comes to your love of music, musicians and how music can make us feel a large spectrum of emotions. Too Much To Ask and Put A Little Love On Me (from HBW) are actually linked - PALLOM is what happens after he gets used to being alone in TMTA, but longs for that past love; that’s why if you look closely at the lyrics and arrangement of the two songs, they run together seamlessly.
