My Beckett burner is going in and out of lockout on its own. Flashing green . When flame is going I get a loud humming noise in power vent pipe , when in lockout the power vent just keeps running until I hit reset button. Swapped filters and cleaned fuel pump strainer and nossel replaced however one bolt on bottom right of fuel pump won’t screw in I have no leaks . Maybe air getting in fuel

Thank you Steve just did my oil heater i have a wayne oil burner heater i replaced the primary did the electrodes and new nozzles dam they killed me with that wayne repair kit came with electrodes and small copper line and a coupler for the pump that plastic tube that goes to the pump and motor and a ruler for the electrodes spec 85 dollars

Haha just kiddin ya. hard to find someone to even do a yearly service on my boiler here, only one big company that rips ya off. $289 for a simple yearly service and filter change. $99 for a nozzle. Idk what you charge but I’ll do it myself with your guidance and my DIY attitude

My fuel oil furnace is on the fritz right now i think a it's an old pump definitely needs some TLC cleaning and it's so hard to find parts I've watched everyone of your videos.. i'm more of a visual learner...i have so many questions.. my setup is almost the exact same as this gentleman's but I have what looks like two sensors on the panel wall above my igniter.. and my furnace won't even start unless I undo one of the prongs on the bottom sensor as you can tell I need help

Usually it is just the motor to pump coupling ends, they wear out especially at the pump side and just spin on the pump shaft, but in this case, the pump was junk!

@@ohger1 Yeah, it's always fun! Lol! been working on boilers and burners 35+ yrs, and they still can drive one looney! Also, pumps are not bullet proof, alot of bad ones over the yrs, like any other part, they wear out too. If water gets to them, they can go bad sooner.

That’s why I don’t use flappers anymore. Been using the new style pop up style tank drains. They work flawlessly for me. Put one in my own shop toilet almost ten years ago. Had a chain problem once, but no issue with the unit itself.

My burner just shut off for "unknown" reason the other day. Thought I was out of oil. Put 8 gals of gas station diesal, bled the pump of air and it started up again. Curious why it stopped in the first place. Had a delivery today and found out I still had 70 gals in the tank?? BTW - Steve, I don't understand why you say that the old pump was "not pulling". How could you tell that with the bleeder nut closed? But then after you put in the new pump and said "she's pulling" you had the bleeder open? What's up with that?

hi steve thank you for the video i have a hot water pressure washer the pum p seems to run i bleed it remove air but no output fuel i open ed clean it intsall new filter inside the pump , clean the gear change my fuel fier . check the solenoide valve output 7.8 v the solonoide valve itsself work fine but for some reason the fuell never reached the burner any advice i just dont want to buy a new tank while this can be repaired or its not the pump the problem , thank you

I have a poace in a renote location.. sand oil service guys are terrible. My furnace will not start up until i bleed the system everytime.. and after several hours when weather changes when it calls for heat, it only fires what left in the nozzle then flame is gone.. i am think the oil pump as well..... Help me out.. appreciate it! PS- I changed the Nozzle new electrodes, filters, transformer, this is the only thing left!!!!!

it should work just fine i believe the bio fuel pump just has different o rings the old pumps die all the time .they say i have not seen the bio fuel yet in my area ..

Another great video Steve. I’m really curious though, how do you get the burner to run for so long without locking out. When I’m bleeding air, I find myself wasting so much time waiting for hard lockouts to clear. I didn’t think there was another way, but in this video while waiting for the pump to try to prime it never locked out as far as I can tell.

I know this question is a year old, but you can use a jumper on the control after the burner starts and it doesn't lock out. I've seen him do it on other videos.

Thanks for the reply red pine….. So yea you can jump TT on the primary control in certain circumstances which acts as the T-stat, so a “call for heat” occurs which brings the burner/circs on, but it won’t prevent the burner from locking out while bleeding air from the oil line. The Beckett genesys primary control has a way to bypass the lockout for bleeding purposes, but I’m wondering how any of the other PC’s can stay on without locking out. I’ve seen him do this in a few videos, but it may just be editing that makes it look like they aren’t locking it.

@@predhuntr03 On those old Honeywell R8184's and similar primaries you can jump across the cad cell wires (F-F terminals ) anytime after the burner starts but before lockout occurs. Don't neglect to remove the jumper when you're done. The control will not allow the burner to restart on the next call for heat if the cad cell sees light or the jumper is left in place. Another serviceman's shortcut that was seen in the video was a visual observation of flame brightness and quality in lieu of smoke and CO2 tests when setting the air band. This can be done another way by disconnecting the cad cell completely from the F-F terminals and connecting them instead to an ohmmeter. The brightest flame for any given setup will give the lowest reading - typically somewhere between 200-1600 ohms. For example, an AFG burner with an F3 head, a .75 nozzle and a static plate will have less light reaching the cad cell than the same burner with an F22 head, a 2.5 nozzle and (of course) no static plate. Once again you will need to jumper the F-F terminals after the burner starts and during the test to prevent a lockout. The reason this works is because not enough air will result in incomplete combustion and a dark and smokey fire. Too much air will result in a cooler fire and less than optimal combustion and heat transfer.

They do get oil from one spot usually, sometimes if the have a big tanker and smaller ones, they transfer to the smaller delivery trucks and send the big one to the fill em up place. long time ago needed oil so we called discount oil company.

I don't see a combustion tester on any jobs, or heat exchangers cleaned, or tests on pumps like vacuum and pressure, and cut off, or two pipe systems or tiger loops. Filters should be as close to burner as possible, check valves are obsolete on suction lines. Check valves were world war 2 era. Yet the wanna bees want to be just like you. It's what I hate about this business. A lacking tech with good BS skills trumps a real pro most of the time.

Keeping the line clean? In your 34 years you have never noticed the coating 2 oil creates on the inside of the lines and never seen the chunks that come off? Doing it wrong for 34 years doesn't make it right. The industry needs good techs, if you consider yourself a good tech I suggest you make your self a better one by taking continuing education on a regular basis. Start by looking up a Riello Burner installation on a Veissmann. The filter is close to the burner, not at the tank. BTW saying DUH went out in the 70's.
