Henrik and Aron are most mind-blowing rhythm section I've EVER heard! They play with machine-like precision...completely locked-in and in-tune with each other. Another great reaction, Steve!

We so love all of your reactions to Dirty Loops songs. They're especially appreciated coming from the viewpoint of a drummer who can authentically critique & appreciate their rhythm section. One of your fantastic quotes ("FUNKY AS FUCK!") is now in my and my guitar player-husband's lexicon. Thanks, Steve!

Fantastic. These guys never disappoint. This is totally showing my age, but I could absolutely hear this in a 90s racing arcade game like San Francisco Rush or Cruis'n or something. I don't know if it's the tempo or the drum & bass w/ synth combo or what, but it makes me want to pump quarters into a cabinet to go for a high score. The musicianship there is just bonkers. I can't even begin to dissect it. DL are quickly becoming a favorite of mine and I thank you for introducing me to them. Great video and a great start to my Friday. 😁

Un...believable. If that was a Logic Pro loop I suspect it wouldn't even be as precise. I cramped up just watching this. Awesome.

When looking at muting, check out the head of the bass. He has a solution to automatically mute, which works fine if you don’t use many open strings. You’ll see it when he is tapping or fingerplaying fast, but usually not when he has slap parts.

Notice that strap at the head of his Bass. It's there to mute the vibrations of let's say strings he happens to brush while playing. It muffles the vibrations, so it doesn't go thru the amp.

Steve, thanks for another fun reaction to a fun song! Always love that mix of genuine excitement and appreciation, and interesting analysis on the other hand, of what Dirty Loops are doing. Yeah, Aron and Henrik, they’re just too good… Was wondering if you have yet listened to “Pink Power” by those two, from the same project? Another fun and frantic one-. Then there is “Ring of Saturn” from DL’s collab with Cory Wong. There’re also some solo projects of Jonah’s: his cover of MJ’s “Bad” with an appearance by Jordan Rudess (Dream Theatre) and two other dope keyboard players, and “Coffee Break”, feat. Richard Bona on bass 🔥 And so much more, including their earlier covers… Very much looking forward to more Dirty Loops reactions! 👍 Edit: thanks for doing that Ring of Saturn reaction :) And to Henrik and Aron’s playing, it’s been said many times how they both practiced together for hours on a regular basis. And Henrik once talked about that moment when your groove falls together perfectly with the drummer that it almost feels like you’re the same person, - or something to that effect. Also, he’s using 3 fingers for plucking, at times- And, not being a bass player, but I think that he’s muted his sound by way of that red band around the end of his fingerboard… Hey, and can’t have enough cowbells, ever ;) xx

Yes, yes and YES! That hi-hat and snare solo is like pulling a rubberband to the point of breaking - and then, omg, the roll at 2:28 - it just sends me into outer space. You should check out a recent (30 minutes long) inteview with Henrik, at Fitzpatrick Import Group here on yt. He talks a lot about his gear, mentions the fret wrap and also talks about how him and Aron used to spend a ridiculous amount of hours practicing. And good news, Mattisson is actually releasing a Signature Model of Henriks base in the near future. Thank you for another great reaction and review! Have a nice evening. :)

Every time I hear this it reminds of Jean-Luc Ponty's "Egocentric Molecules" from 1978. Driving rhythm section, keyboard across the top and cool bass. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6uoXmV-lLt9rK8

I believe (but I'm not positive) that the device you can see across the fretboard near the headstock of Henrick's bass is not a "capo" (as you have mistakenly identified it in previous videos) but a "mute", which serves to deaden the ringing of open strings, rather than alter the pitch of the instrument. The relative position of the device to the end of the fretboard determines the degree of muting achieved, not the actual pitches of the strings. That's my theory, anyway. ;)

What do you mean? It's a 4/4 in 135 bpm from start to end (at least according to my metronome) even though they're messing quite a bit with the accents and feel of it, especially in the drum break (which was why I broke out the metronome in the first place, when this one came out), but even there they come back in on the one in 135 bpm afterwards. Or am I missing something?
