My italian grandma mentioned this place many times. She used to scare me and my sister. She visited this place many times when she was younger. I have always wanted to visit it but I never had the chance to. I'm glad you got there. It's creepy as hell. I'm gonna show her this vid I want to find out how much it has changed since she has been there. That tower...that's the most creepy thing ever. My grandma said that you can hear the bell...but the bell is not there. Creepy

Great video Steve and friend. What I love about your video's unlike some exploration video's, is that you film give a history no scary music no acting just plain filming and photos. Thank you Steve eventually this place will be taken back by nature. So very sad it couldn't be developed as a luxury hotel as the grounds are stunning. It would cost millions though. Looking forward to China series, be safe there.

I first saw the island on the TV show Scariest Places on Earth where they would leave families to explore very haunted places and give them challenges to do in those haunted placed. On at least one episode, the family couldn't make it through the night, but I can't remember where they were. The island was in a lot better shape than it is now. It wasn't falling apart like it is now. I watched Ghost Adventures and remember when they explored there. There was scaffolding up then, but it has deteriorated even more since they were there. I'm surprised you were allowed to go to the island. It's been off limits for some time. It's a whole lot scarier at night and the vibes are totally different. If you can find it, watch the Poveglia Island episode on Scarriest Places on Earth. You can really tell a lot more about the asylum/hospital. The buildings were in a pretty good shape back then.

There is a strange beauty in amongst all the decay ,it gives nice areas where you get windows,walls and greenery all coming together ,giving a sad but ethereal view..This place is amazing ..If they built a hotel there it would attract all the paranormal people there ,they could even turn it into a retreat where it’s all to do with spirituality..would do so well in the middle of all that water ..just so lovely yet sad 😀

Try the Kings Park Psychiatric hospital Kings Park Ny … i grew up near it and would be interesting to see what you think. It is the size of a small town with over 20 buildings, tunnels , morgues, grave yards. Its own fire station , its own power plant , rest on the nessaquage river in san remo , kings park ny on long island. Definitely worth a visit yet it would take days + to see it all .

Does anyone else find it odd, massive generators were running? I'd be curious what and who exactly is needing power underground. Possibly a D.U.M.B? ( deep underground military base)
@TheDutchOne
@TheDutchOne 4 жыл бұрын
No that's not strange. This island is for sale, if and a big if you have enough money. In this situation the power line company has to maintain the line to the island and is responsible to the end station! On this island that is that room you are mentioning. Because that is the place where the power is physically cut off to the rest of the island.

Sorry for my late answer. Didn't notice this question when you reacted to me!
@melissasmidt222
@melissasmidt222 4 жыл бұрын
Michael Respectfully, I disagree. It's one thing to maintain an electrical current to the island, and a completely other thing to have massive generators turned on at or near capacity. Something is pulling a massive amount of electricity from that source.
@TheDutchOne
@TheDutchOne 4 жыл бұрын
Melissa Smidt What you are hearing are big fans. Those are needed to cool down the equipment in that room. This room needs less maintenance, because it's better equipped. Most of the Italians hate this place and do not want to come there to often.

@@Thombosman-nl somewhere during the 80 or 90's they've tried to renovate the complex on the island for whatever reason. Rumors were that a rich business man tried to change the complex in some sort of a luxury resort. Idk if that's true or not, but they could have removed those during the renovation. I also don't know why they've stopped renovating the complex... maybe due to the ghosts who still resides there? :P :P Who knows?

@@spinxchin9917 No. They are autoclaves. Earlier cremation ovens were ALWAYS made of bricks due to the extreme heat needed to reduce tissue to ash. Those are 100% NOT cremation ovens. Those two 'giant things' at 15:39 are burning chambers, that building is the "Crematorium". Those moving drying racks were for bodies
@splint3048
@splint3048 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not so sure about that. The heating elements were air to air or liquid to air, in either case they would not deliver enough heat to cremate a body. For that an open flame would be the preferred method.
@briankocheraabcdt4628
@briankocheraabcdt4628 4 жыл бұрын
@@ThatsLaCotta Crematorium require very high open flames. There have to be exhaust chimneys for the smoke and smell of burning flesh. From the looks of the doors and construction my educated guess, having worked at Graystone State Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains, NJ, they're autoclaves designed to sterilize large quantities of medical instruments. Graystone was a huge campus, a virtual city with its own barber shop, beauty parlor, medical clinic, surgical unit, farm, occupational therapy unit, an abandoned tuberculosis building. The main building with its many wings and Psychiatric wards, housed written case records going back to the 1800s when the main building was built. Amongst those records were the diagnostic and treatment records for folksinger icon, Woody Guthrie. It was taught he had some rare form of mental illness before he was accurately diagnosed as having Huntingtons chorea. It is a rare hereditary disease where the nerve cells in the brain break down over time. BTW You can't explore Graystone. When New Jersey transisioned from mental hospitals, the buildings were mostly raised, a portion of the land was sold off for development. The rest was developed into parkland. Sorry for the tangent. They're autoclaves.

@@stargatekeeper3303 Nope, but there's torture, suffering, pain, mental suffering and a mass number of death occurred every day across the planet and yes even nature, animals everything that lives in this planet experience the same thing

@@stargatekeeper3303 Bruh you literally suggested that every place where all the tortured, suffering, pain, mental suffering and a mass number of death occurred be destroyed without realizing that's been happening everyday in our planet. Considering the hospitals lot's of deaths, suffering, mental suffering and tortured due to incurable illness and diseases

the island is said to be cursed and haunted by ghost and demons and riddled with diseases. that's why no one will step foot on the island. plus the countless number of human remains littered the island as well.

Tube things look like furnaces, the pipes snaking across the bottom would have heated water for the buildings.

Those dryers😄 are boilers probably for heating the buildings and giving hot water.

The island was very sad. It was quiet in ruins. All those people died there from the plague. It was hard living there with all the sick people and really there looks like nothing for them to do..

15:30 That was not the laundry room. This was the place where they burned the bodies! The other part before this is the place where they drained the blood.

Michael I immediately thought the same, however, I didn't know it 100%. I'm also assuming, due to the infectious diseases some of the patents had , burning the bodies was standard. Thanks for the confirmation.

That's for burning the bodies and the clothes and everything they deceased had with them. To stop the plague. At lest that is what my grandma said.

They wouldnt need to drain the blood before a cremation especially with such diseases it would all go in the incinerator or crematorium. It wasnt huge practice to preserve bodies with formaldehyde back in those days because not many family members wanted a diseased body back to bury. They died and were buried there right away. But we also have to remember hospitals could get away with murder and treating patients horribly especiallyin psychiatric hospitals so who knows what was done.
