Hey Steve. Don’t forget, we’ve all seen the KZbin stuff from America that tells us that split rings and spider hubs will kill you if you even mention the words. I used to work at a servo and repair flats all the time on these. You knew they wanted to bite you so you put em together right the first time. Lucky I’m still here eh? 🤣
@stevesplacedownunder Жыл бұрын
Yes mick they can be very dangerous. I try not to mention to much about them incase someone does happen to listen and something goes wrong. That’s why I only mentioned the lug nuts

Hi Neil, yes it was mate . It went for a lot longer than the video did. If the steering box was still fitted I would of called someone to steer it. Would of been a half hour job then. I did enjoy a few mate

That was a bit of a mission. I reckon good paint job on spider and rims looks better than an other rim type. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing Steve

It was mate. Yes I do too. All the trucks I do up I take pride in making the spiders look nice. I’m not at all into stud rims or anything else

Hi mate. Geez don’t I what! I don’t know why sometimes. I guess I could of made it easier and just dragged it off and left it but I like things to be parked neatly and lined up, it’s tidy then
@oldamericaniron5767 Жыл бұрын
I know what it’s like doing certain jobs by yourself, it can be twice as hard and take four times as long but you still get it done.👍
@stevesplacedownunder Жыл бұрын
If the steering worked I’d get someone to steer it and it would of taken an hour. Not most of the day

A while back I had a girlfriend who was nearly that stubborn. You have more persistence than me 😁 Did a bit more research on the UD: the 6cyl may be a Nissan PD6. 10,308cc naturally-aspirated for 185bhp/138kW. I think there was a turbo version later but I’m not 100% sure - the Japanese manufacturers hung onto big naturally-aspirated engines for much longer than most 🙂
@stevesplacedownunder Жыл бұрын
Gday Jim. Geez mate I bet your glad that’s over. It’s a turbocharged 6 cylinder in it mate. I will do a walk around video on it

Cool vid as always Steve that wouldn't happen to be a old purple Kenworth cabover at 24:09 any chance we could get a close up? 👍
@stevesplacedownunder Жыл бұрын
Yes mate it is but it’s been cut. Before I got it someone wanted the diffs out of it so the cut the rails. I was given the rest of it for steering and cab parts. No motor or trans in it

hey steve ron franklin from darwin. just a question the old ud has it got a v8 in it they were old 853s and 871, that nissan got and rebuilt,and you had to order pistons by giving engine number as they were all difrent
@stevesplacedownunder Жыл бұрын
Hi Ron thanks for watching. No mate it’s a turbocharged 6 cylinder in that one. It’s a 4wd. It runs and drives nice. I used it to dig the piers for my house extension. Another bloke also asked if it was a naturally aspirated v8. I haven’t had a lot to do with UD engines so that is news to me. I wonder why they were all different? I have a 5 cylinder 2stroke UD engine here but that’s all I’ve had much to do with and even that is very limited knowledge. Great to hear from you in Darwin mate
