As an avid country music listener and someone who was raised in the South, this was pretty spot on. My only critique would be that the southern drawl does not necessarily come from the word "rain", but more so the understanding that words like "still" and "steel" are in fact the same words, words like "theater" have three syllables instead of two, and the emphasis of words like "guitar" are more so on the "gui" than the "tar". Otherwise, phenomenal work!

I have been a writer’s demo singer since I was 14, which is over 40 yearsm😱. I am not a country singer and never even listened to it growing up, but many of the calls I got, especially in the 90s, were country songs. The (no) range factor you mentioned is real. No range required. And I find I stay tightly wound for those sessions because you can’t do anything vocally that a country singer can’t do, so you’re extremely limited 😂. I learned very early on to tuck any creativity away and swallow my pride when doing country sessions. As a singer, I don’t want anyone to hear them, but I do want the writer to get their song picked up. You nailed every single country-ism! It is a boring, musically brain dead genre. Great job.

Awesome job Stevie. It legitimately makes me sad that when people think “Country Music”, this is what comes to their minds. Too many will never know the clever play on words, the great vocals, the chill inspiring instrumentation. Now it’s “chillin with the farmers daughter down a dirt road in my pickup truck when the sun goes down in a small town”, terrible Hip Hop inspired inflections on certain words, and lack of musicality in favor of pop/hip hop computerized tracks. Too many people moved to Nashville that don’t know anything about the genre and might as well have watched this video before writing because this is ridiculously accurate. Keep ‘em comin Stevie!

@TheHive6162 жыл бұрын
The thing about Stevie T, he knows how to mix and produce music in a way that most people are trained to expect and associate with "quality music." That's why even when he's taking the piss, it still comes through sounding like "top 10 quality..." Cause it is. Top 10 radio uses the same tricks and shortcuts to appeal no matter the genre. And like any songwriter worth his salt, Stevie T knows how to use the tools to make things listenable. It really says more about what music listeners are trained to expect, than how good or original his songs are. I mean, they're well built and flawlessly executed, but they're designed specifically to appeal to popular music expectations, so of course they feel genuine.

Stevie, I'm a country girl from Arkansas. I'm literally as country as country gets - a metalhead and a country music lover all at once. And yet, somehow, I find this video absolutely hilarious because country musicians all are kinda the same. And while there is a whole lot of amazing country music, you kinda hit some of the country downfalls in this video. But country really is just about working and living the blue collar life. It's about work and losing sometimes in life, finding love, maybe breaking up and getting over it, or just living the good life and appreciating every moment. If yall want good country music, listen to George Strait, Brantley Gilbert, or Tracy Lawrence. Country music does all revolve around the same themes and stuff like that - no blast beats or sic drumming which I kinda hate - so yeah lol you hit the nail on the head. And, yes, I am very offended by your clothing. We usually just wear tee shirts, boot cut jeans, and boots. Nothing flashy or something from a Western. We're not all from Texas, after all. 🤪 Jk love you and your hilarious personality! Keep the awesome work up! 😂
@Histgyph2 жыл бұрын
Some people would argue that real country doesn’t have drums
@TheSusBus_1912 жыл бұрын
@@Histgyph I know, right? It's something that I absolutely love in metal because I grew up on country music, which never had killer drum solos like Slipknot or Mudvayne. The blast beats and double kicks get me in every song. It makes me appreciate drums in any song I hear now. Heck, I can pick out the individual pieces of the drum - cymbals, hats snare, and bass - for the most part. I just really love drumming. It looks so exhilarating and enjoyable.
