My wife loves margaritas - I got some blue curacao from marionette & made her a semi-dry one (just a small dash of agave nectar as additional sweetener) & the lime n salt garnishes & she loves them (we’re like 3/4 through the 500ml bottle of curacao in a few months on her own & just with this drink) - but there’s loads of ways to vary a margarita - I did yours/cocktail pete’s watermelon one with acidulated watermelon juice & she loved that too. Awesome - keep it up…

The Tommy’s Margarita is my favourite. Introduced it to a daiquiri fan, a claimed “margarita purest” (until that moment only liked blanco), and someone who prefers bourbon. All of them now ask for the Tommy’s margarita when we hangout in the hot weather.

Its fun learning all these cocktails I've never heard of before, and that sound and look delicious. I already have a list and the entire month of January will be dedicated to trying them out and pinning down the best. Its gonna be fun!

Regardless of the margarita, I always prefer ice in my margarita. I’ve had a handful of margaritas in coupe glasses with no ice and they just aren’t the same as the cool and refreshing ones that have ice.

Tommy’s is great and The Educated Barfly combined the 2. 2oz Blanco (not Reposado), 1oz lime, 1/2oz agave syrup and 1/2oz dry curaçao. It is great. I’ve also substituted in triple syrup instead of agave syrup when I had made a batch. 1800 is sort of a mediocre brand, not sure if you can get Olmeca Altos but that’s my favorite for margaritas. 7 Leguas is also very good but a bit more pricy for mixing.

I'm a big fan of Tommie's Margarita. Thanks for showcasing the recipe. As I understand it, the difference between agave syrup and agave "nectar" (such as Tres Agaves Agave Nectar) is that the nectar is syrup diluted in half. The Agave Syrup available where I live is the consistency of honey, while the Agave Nectar I use is less viscous, more like a simple sugar syrup. My ratio is 2 parts Tequila to 1 part lime to 1 part Agave Nectar. If I use the syrup I cut the amount of syrup in half and add extra water to get back to a 2/1/1 ratio. Perhaps not needed, but I've convinced myself that it helps match the overall volume and balance of using agave nectar.

As a Scotsman, my favourite variation is what I call a Bonnie Margarita, two parts reposado, one part fresh lime and one part Drambuie. There's something special about the hit of hte tequila followed by the warmth of the Drambuie that makes it especially nice in winter, perfect for Christmas & New Year.

I say, add agave nectar to taste. Start with a bar spoon and a half of the stuff, give it a stir, and taste. If it's still not sweet enough, add another half-barspoonful more. The Tommy's Margarita highlights the Tequila more than the classic version, though I like what the orange liqueur brings to the drink. So, I combined the two recipes and made a hybrid: 1.5 oz Tequila 3/4 oz lime juice 1/2 oz Cointreau 1 bar spoon agave nectar 8 drops umami bitters

This is my go to margarita for my guests and never got any complaints, although I make a variation. I create the classic margarita and add organic Agave syrup. The bar manager complains about the fact that I refuse to use the margarita recipe listed in our menu (which I think is disgusting 😂). Mine is 2 oz White Tequila, 1 oz Lime juice, Cointreau & Agave syrup (about .50 oz each). Theirs goes like this: Reposado Tequila, Roses lime, Cointreau, Orange juice and a splash of Sour Mix. What do you all think?

Went against my better judgment and made this with the full 1 oz of agave syrup. Good lord, man, how can you stand it this sweet? The flavors are good, don’t get me wrong, but the sugar is out of control. Then I looked up others’ recipes for the Tommy Margarita and literally every single one I’ve found so far recommends half an ounce of agave syrup, not a full ounce. For anyone reading this comment, I highly recommend halving the agave syrup and trying that first before adding any more, unless you like your drinks tooth-achingly saccharine.
@StevetheBartender_
@StevetheBartender_ Жыл бұрын
Agave syrup = diluted agave nectar. So if you use 1 oz of 1:1 agave syrup, it is exactly the same sugar content of 0.5 oz agave nectar. I did mention this in the video……. See here 0:50 For anyone else reading this comment, I explain everything in the video.

Most triple secs are low quality, and are just there to add sweetness (plus a bit of orange). The agave replaces it for sweet, and if you miss the orange (I do), add a touch of a quality orange liquor, like Cointreau.
