I stopped taking the statin. Stupid doctor doesn’t really care.

I don't believe it. The statistics prove that excess cholesterol causes arterial obstruction. Humans produce cholesterol - all animals (except for a few invertebrates) produce cholesterol. The human body produces enough cholesterol for its needs. Adding other cholesterols into the diet increases a person's chance for obesity, atherosclerosis (clogged arteries), and heart disease. It has been proven, and it takes a few simple searches at highly recognized medical communities (John Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, Washington School of Medicine, etc.) to find well-researched studies that prove the negative effects of high cholesterol.

@@Thinkforyourselves64 - I'm sorry that your doctor doesn't care. I suggest that you alter your diet. Greatly reduce saturated fat, processed white sugar (try monk fruit), processed white flour (use whole grain flours), processed foods and fast food. Instead, eat plenty of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, beans and legumes. I listen to many of the lessons from Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr. He wrote the best-selling book, "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease." He is also one of the contributing doctors of the documentary, "Forks over Knives." That's a good video to watch. I think "Forks over Knives" is free to watch on KZbin. I hope the best for you!

Very helpful. Not diabetic but do tend toward now blood sugar. Sugar causes insulin spikes for me. I am a "super taster" so like the monk fruit better. Stevia leaves an aftertaste where monk fruit doesn't, and even seems to improve flavor for me.

I enjoy using a Monkfruit/Erythritol blend when baking. You can blend it up, turning it into a powdered sugar texture, which might be more pleasant tasting for some. I love using the blend for making homemade strawberry jam as well.

Well done. While not diabetic, I do eat low carb and if we do sweet, we lean toward using natural sweeteners like monk fruit, allulose, and stevia.

In the Asian families we use Monk fruit ( whole) in soups or in deserts. We boil it then remove it.

I’ve noticed that once I started cutting out sugar. I started sleeping better & I feel more energized. I replaced sugar with stevia & monk fruit. Sometimes I’ll use unsweetened applesauce as a sweetener for my oatmeal or Cream of Wheat.

I have used "Pure Sweet" brand of white stevia powder for well over a year. No ill effects from it but you do have to use care when handling it so you don't get a lot of it airborne and breathe it in. 62 yr male - in one year dropped 40# 225>185 and long time high blood pressure is now normal.

Thanks for the info! I've been substituting sugar with stevia and/or monk fruit extract for awhile now in my cooking. I love the fact that it takes less the amount of regular sugar, but packs twice the sweetness. My dad has type II diabetes so it runs in my family, and I love sweetness in all my dishes. Of course everything should be used in moderation, but I'm so glad I found these alternatives!!

Oh, and I went to the doctor while I was taking Stevia and they took bloodwork on me and my cholesterol was sky high

My brother told me about RX sugar replacement ( Allulose). I have been using it in place of honey or stevia( sickening sweet for my taste). I find it tastes more like sugar but not super sweet. I have used it on my organic oats with berries, chia seeds, creamy Tahini or walnuts , Benefiber & cinnamon. That with Dave’s organic bread w only 1 gram of sugar from organic juices fuels me until 2:30-3 😋 12:30 No spike or crash later.

Truth is, I'm looking for that perfect taste for my coffee and have bought pure Stevia. I needed only 1/32 t. (that is 1/4 of 1/8 t. you read that right) but there is still a slightly funny taste but not so bad.

I was recently told that monk fruit was better for me. I just used some, and it has a weird aftertaste, but the monk fruit I have has erythritol as its first ingredient. I love my stevia packets by Stevia in the Raw. After so many decades of Sweet n Low (😑) and that aftertaste, I don't mind the aftertaste of stevia at all.

Try "Pure Sweet" brand of white stevia powder. To me, its the same after taste of cane sugar.

If I’m wrong, let me know. But I believe Stevia in the raw has dextrose and dextrose raises blood sugar. I have awesome whole earth Stevia erythritol monk fruit natural flavors packets, and they are excellent. I also have monk fruit erythritol from Costco.

i bought a bag of organic stevia powder (non-blend) which comes with a tiny scoop. i put 1 scoop in my morning coffee and the first sip tastes super sweet but every sip after that it no longer tastes that sweet, weird how that is.

"Stevia in the Raw" is mixed with DEXTROSE. It will likely be high in calories AND cause blood glucose to rise.

Unrefined sweeteners are always better. Stevia or monk fruit sweeteners are still refined sugar. My problem is I can't taste the sweetness at all. I can put the equivalent of 10 teaspoon ( ten sachets worth) into my mug of coffee and I taste nothing sweet at all. heheh... Do some people have this issue with monk fruit? Stevia is almost as bad. But I tak saccarine just 3-4 tiny tablet and I taste it so sweet.

Same with erythritol monkfruit for me. And there is WIDE variety of sweetness when it comes to stevia products. I go with "Pure Sweet" brand of white stevia powder. 1/2 heaping teaspoon to sweeten a gallon of super sweet tea (even less for coffee)

Stevia gave e terrible headaches. Now I take Volupta a product with erythritol and a small amount of monk fruit. Erythritol, xylitol, sorbitol and other sugar alcohols are calorie free and benefit our gut flora.

Stevia cause me to have nerve pain burning of the nail and burning of my feet. I am now on monk fruit Stevia. I hope it does not cause those problems for me. I am not a diabetic and I don’t drink alcohol. I just want it something that won’t put weight on me the sugars that have OSE in it, they say it causes cancer
