Idk there have been many articles warning against Erythritol. Splenda makes a liquid monk fruit sweetener without erythritol and Pyure makes a stevia sweetener without erythritol. Both can be found at Walmart. Personally I like the taste of 50/50 stevia and monk fruit in foods and drinks that I need sweetened and opt out of sweeteners that contain erythritol.

I have been adding Monk fruit to my tea along with liquid stevia (I like my tea sweet!). I didn't notice before, but it has 8 grams of carbs per serving. It is coming from a fruit. Even though it is natural I believe that it is not zero calories. Also, I learned that it would not be good for diabetics to use in place of sugar. There is a video on KZbin with an Asian doctor who explains this.

I think you are right… my sister was using Monk fruit because she is diabetic… thinking is healthy…she got a big surprise when she did her regular check up(blood test)…her sugar levels where sooo high… she was confused because she was eating healthy and properly… she figure it out it was the Monk fruit…. the next blood test she did in 3 months after ,after stopping Monk fruit came back normal.

Great info to explain the maze of sweeteners. I've always avoided all of them, but have been baking for my Keto friend and it doesn't hurt for me to cut down in my own baking. My friend likes Swereve the best. She finds Stevia has a weird & bitter aftertaste) I especially liked your 'warning' about 'natural flavours'. I think it might be the same in the US, but 'natural' means absolutely nothing in Canada - in other words there is no regulation for something to be 'natural'. Thanks for posting!

Another great video Bobby, I'm a casual watcher of your channel. Thank you for pointing out again that you really have to read the ingredients to know what you're getting. Companies adding ingredients to health food that significantly reduces the health benefits of them (maltodextrin to stevia for example), misleading individuals into making purchases they think will help improve their health for its benefits when actually makes it worse; this behavior the greater food industry has is disgusting. It's up to us to be vigilant and support companies that make great product.

Xylitol is a 1 on the glycemic index, sugar is 100 on the glycemic index, highly recommended by dentists for oral health and prevents cavities. Xylitol is also good for your gut, it feeds the good flora in your gut. Xylitol in large quantity can cause diarrhea. I highly recommend it. Birch xylitol is the only one I use, it's sweet with no after taste, it looks and tastes just like sugar and it cooks and bakes like sugar. Doesn't spike sugar, good for keto, all in all, a very sweet deal.

I’m a huge fan of Bobby. I’ve lost 45 lbs doing a low carb clean keto diet in the last 6 months. So I’ve taken a lot of info away from his channel. However I have to say, I think he gets everyone a bit too hysterical with the natural flavors. I agree it is chemicals in food and should be something you want to try and avoid. But if you want to eat a treat every once in awhile and it has natural flavors in it, guess what, you’re gonna be just fine. I did a little research, and as far as I can see there’s been no documented deaths in this country caused by natural flavors. My preworkout drink has it, and I love the extra energy it gives me. I get such a better workout with it. So while I love and appreciate the knowledge that Bobby drops here, he needs to roll it back with the natural flavor paranoia.

I could tolerate 2g, but some of their bars came with as much as 7. So it's sad that Lakanto felt the need to add it to their product. I'm intriguied by Monkfruit sweetener. I've heard a lot of good things and I seem to do fine on Monkbars. But I'm not sure how I'd do on greater quantities of it. And if I have a mixed product and I don't feel well, I can't very well eliminate monkfruit as the cause. Thanks for the great videos!

What about liquid Splenda. I use that primarily but only in my morning coffee. I tried Stevia for about 3 months and just couldn't get used to the taste. I just don't like it. What does Monk Fruit taste like?

Stay away from Splenda, it’s one of the worst sweeteners for your gut
@tctopcat8135 жыл бұрын
Tami Ramos I was using the liquid Splenda in my coffee because it was not mixed with other ingredients. I changed over to the Lakanto liquid drops with no problem. Healthier choice but much more expensive.

I also want to know what it tastes like. I’ve tried many keto sugars and have hated all of them 🥺

Bobby, just saw this video. What would you say is a better alternative to sugar now that Erythritol has been linked to heart issues? I've used the Lakanto brand for years but now need to change again😒
@whitneymartinez33425 жыл бұрын
I agree with just about everything you post, but I just can't get behind this one. Stevia and monkfruit seem the least processed, but Erythritol is very refined and highly processed, no? I don't understand how something man-made can possibly be healthier than naturally made products, i.e. honey or maple syrup. Have had no issues maintaining good health and weight using whole foods as sweetners such as these. Of course, moderation is everything!

If it's non-GMO then I don't see a problem.
@whitneymartinez33425 жыл бұрын
@@NR-nf1il every sugar alcohol on the market is highly refined even if it comes from a natural source (i.e. Burch trees).. I'm always surprised Bobby supports them considering how much he is against natural flavoring. I don't see much of a difference. I spend a lot of time/money getting highly processed stuff out of my families diet, but yet I'm to believe that these options are optimal for health compared for maple syrup or honey, which are more whole foods than erythritol ever could be. Also, like he mentions, these can be very disruptive to your gut health if too much is consumed. I think sugar alcohols have given many people an excuse to eat more junk. Additionally, these don't fully break down in the gut suggesting that there is likely fermentation of undigested sugar alcohols in the gut which may not feed bad bacteria, but has the potential to exacerbate yeast problems. I just think he and many other people on this bandwagon got it wrong. At least for my family we avoid these like we would any other zero calorie sweeteners or any other highly processed junk food.

Isn't erythritol another name for sugar? I would stay away and don't agree with bobby
@whitneymartinez33422 жыл бұрын
@@13alejandre erythritol is a man made zero calorie sweetener. They claim it's natural because it is derivatives are natural sources. Fact is, it is highly processed and has no place in the gut.

Thanks for the info, I currently use stevia and was thinking of trying monkfruit. Should probably just switch to honey, seems like the healthiest way to go, less processed.

Hi I really love your channel, it is so informative. I have a question, Amazon sells Better Body Foods Organic Coconut Palm Sugar. Just reading about it I saw that it has natural flavors and that's not good, but trying Keto is not for the faint of heart or the slim of wallet. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey Bobby, I love how you educate people about clean eating etc etc..., however when you grab a product from a shelf, kindly put it back nicer or better than you found them. Hey Bobby, I think I've found a flavored stevia liquid that does not use artificial or natural flavors. Stevia Select. Here is the Amazon.ca link for the lemon one. I've just tried the vanilla one so far - it contains vanilla extract. Am I right, are these good?
