First love never dies. The chemistry is so intense it is combustible, it can burn the flame out. I am fortunate to still have my first love and soulmate in my life 40 years later. We went on to marry other partners, and raised families. We have leaned on each other many times over 40 years. The “what if’s”…can be a slippery slope. I know we genuinely and truly love and trust each other. We respect our relationships with our spouses. I can’t imagine life without him. The timing was wrong.

I know Lindsey loves her still and I feel like he blames himself for not being better in ways he could’ve or try to save it. That’s why he tortures himself and sometimes makes himself miserable. But he still loves her like never before. Stevie in my mind was lost and confused but I think she knows for sure that what they had was love for real. She just doesn’t want to go back because yes the problems may still be there but also she just feels bad. She feels regret in leaving and kicking him out and not trying to talk things through. Palpable as always 😊 the soundtracks of our lives. A little coca fusion back in those days when things were clean. Somehow, with heart,we managed to get all our friends home safely .. back then when you saw somebody walking you would pick them up have a chat, ask them what they need and take them home..If they had one. otherwise they're coming with us to our campsite.. nothing but joy 4:59 We were so lucky..$12 tickets to get in (freely given to us often from our local FM radio station) people feeling the energy inviting us to be part of it.. the whole show experience Concerts were a whole groovy vibe then. Thousands of people and maybe one fight in the parking lot no one paid attention to... everybody else, well let's just say we were far out man✌️🕊️ and we loved every second of it guitar 🎸 🎸🎶

This is the greatest love story in rock history imo and I have loved FM and Stevie's solo stuff (ok I admit it, I'm obsessed with them! Always have been always will be) since I was a kid in the 70's. For whatever reason though, known only to them, either they think or they know it would never workout for them in the long term if they were together day in and day out as a couple again. I can kind of relate, not that this compares to what they've shared over the years and I truly do not know all of the facts of their relationship, of course (just the bits and pieces here and there in concert, on videos, interviews, in people's books who knew them etc.) but anyhow I am not with the love of my life. My true love/soul mate and I would have killed each other had we stayed together. So I broke it off. We will always love each other, but we know our relationship was too volatile to ever be able to stay together peacefully. I am remarried (18 years strong!) and have kids, he's been in a long term relationship with someone for over a decade and they have kids. But when we run into each other I still feel it and I can see it in his eyes he does too. But it would never work. Sometimes although a couple may love each other dearly, for some reason they lose themselves in the relationship and they bring out the worst in each other and can't seem to work through that or get past it. As much as we loved each other we also hated each other and there was no happy medium. It happens. I think from everything I've seen, heard, and read about them that Lindsey was/is controlling, intense, all consuming and has a temper. He loses himself in his music for months at a time, he holes himself up and shuts himself away from the outside world. He's a musical genius and he's probably a bit obsessive/compulsive, maybe even bi-polar. A lot of artists are. Stevie is friendly, outgoing, loves attention, is independent and is extremely intuitive. Apparently he was trying to stifle, control, and/or punish her when they'd fight/argue by not working on her musical compositions or not wanting to help her with them and he saw their rise to superstardom as a threat to their relationship as she became more popular and beloved and was the center of attention in FM. She thought by breaking up with him it would stop the game playing with him not wanting to work on her songs and that they'd be able to interact amicably within the band if they were no longer together. She was wrong and realized it at some point. just listen to her songs. she still writes about him. I think he does about her too but his songs seem to be more abstract. Anyhow, after the breakup he still had a problem with helping her, even more so when she started dating others and he was jealous. She also realized along the way that she'd always love him, probably when he started dating others, but it was either too late because they are both stubborn or their personalities are such that they'd never be able to make it work considering their differences. I don't know just a thought.....impressions I've gotten over the years from all the media info that's out there on them.

I lived this exact same thing. My sweet Derek passed in 2016. My husband still knows how much I love still. I never married. But I've been with Scott for 36 yrs. We have 2 beautiful daughter's and grandchildren. I think of Derek everyday. He had Cancer. He left me in 1986 and came back into my life 2001. My Mama had just passed. You rarely get to see the two of them like this. The vast majority of pics/videos is them kinda glaring at each other while performing, and often singing lyrics that aren't too nice. So yeah... watching this makes me happy.
