Swamp T. I'm not that experienced of an guitar player. I mostly just strum rhythm and do something that barely pass a singing to myself XD But does it change that much just from one string breaking? From what i have experienced just pushing the strings harder/softer is enough to correct whenever they are in tune but not really 100%. I usually just stop tho and tune my guitar XD I'm not SRV and my finger are not magical :P hehe.

I believe reason why the guitar didn’t go out of tune when the string broke was because his trem was backed up against the body instead of floating. From what I’ve read the number one and Lenny have their terms back again the body while the other strats were floating but correct me if I’m wrong.

Well, it was noticable if you're paying attention, losing one sting messes up the tension and therefore tuning of the whole guitar, but he did some creative bends and tricks and pulled it off pretty damn well. Most other musicians couldn't do what he did

My favourite part in the solo is actually the part AFTER he breaks the string. First time i watched this i wasn't watching the video and i liked what i heard so i came back to it and i was really surprised that a string breaks , the guy keeps his cool , the bassist looks at the guitar nervously , he still keeps his cool , plays and finishes the solo just how it needs to be done ; and to top it all off he switches guitars without skipping a single beat. I wish he was still alive so we could be going to his shows to see more of this badassery.

Of course I never heard of him and 50 cent just came out and I didn’t care at 15. What always struck me was how their playing always interacted in a subtle way that enhanced each other’s part in a song. The guitar was always playing just the right note to accentuate the piano and vice versa, and the never played over one another. Just an amazing band.

As someone that works as FOH Guy an Stage Tech at a local independent music venue that holds a capacity 400, I have met seen an worked with some wonderful people bands wise but never in my life have I ever seen guitar tech do change as swiftly as Mr Martinez in this clip my god how smooth he is. SRV has taught us so much about what guitar can be or mean to someone. I know for sure he is the best blues guitarist (and best ever in my book) and that he deserves so much more respect and credit. I may be 13, and only started playing guitar 2/3 months ago, but I am on a mission to help rediscover the way SRV influenced people of the last generation and my generation. I plan to make blues a dominant genre again.

I was blessed enough to see him live right before his popularity blew up. To this day it's still the best performance I've ever seen. He played behind his head, behind his back. He switched from an acoustic to an electric guitar mid song without missing a beat. For me he is just the GOAT.

The way SRV changed his guitar after a broken string is one of the coolest I've ever seen. Not one note or word missing.

Idk.. I love SRV and I know he plays live. But this one is iffy.. When he strums initially, it's slightly late.. And the sound is clearly coming from the lower strings such as E or A.. But he definitely only strums the high strings such as B or E..and on top of that his left hand wasn't even in position yet to play those notes

@@GageDrums I thought the same thing, so I watched it over and over in slow motion. If you slow the speed down to 0.50 you will notice at 3:03 (go to about 3:01 to start it) right after he plugs the amp chord in he quickly hits the D and G strings with a down stroke pauses for a beat then hits the B and E strings, realizes he doesn't have a good handle on the pick, changes his grip on the pick and then goes back up the neck to start strumming again. He knew exact where he was supposed to come in and did it so subtly that it looks like it never happened. I happens so quickly you have to really watch it a few times. The ringing of the strings until he hits the next note at 3:04 is in perfect sync too. At least I think that is the answer.
