My Dad past away in 2014, I remembered asking my dad as a teenager “ Dad, who’s your favourite band or singer?” He said without even thinking about it, Stevie Ray Vaughan. Of course I never heard of him and 50 cent just came out and I didn’t care at 15. Unfortunately I never got to share the love for SRV that I now have, but it’s all because of him why I even looked up who this Stevie guy was. Nobody was cooler looking then this guy! The boots and the hat are hitters! Unmatched on the guitar, I’m sorry folks, I know it’s a controversial topic but I’m here to say it anyway. I believe reason why the guitar didn’t go out of tune when the string broke was because his trem was backed up against the body instead of floating. From what I’ve read the number one and Lenny have their terms back again the body while the other strats were floating but correct me if I’m wrong.

Well, it was noticable if you're paying attention, losing one sting messes up the tension and therefore tuning of the whole guitar, but he did some creative bends and tricks and pulled it off pretty damn well. Most other musicians couldn't do what he did

Swamp T. I'm not that experienced of an guitar player. I mostly just strum rhythm and do something that barely pass a singing to myself XD But does it change that much just from one string breaking? From what i have experienced just pushing the strings harder/softer is enough to correct whenever they are in tune but not really 100%. I usually just stop tho and tune my guitar XD I'm not SRV and my finger are not magical :P hehe.

My favourite part in the solo is actually the part AFTER he breaks the string. First time i watched this i wasn't watching the video and i liked what i heard so i came back to it and i was really surprised that a string breaks , the guy keeps his cool , the bassist looks at the guitar nervously , he still keeps his cool , plays and finishes the solo just how it needs to be done ; and to top it all off he switches guitars without skipping a single beat. I wish he was still alive so we could be going to his shows to see more of this badassery.

Idk.. I love SRV and I know he plays live. But this one is iffy.. When he strums initially, it's slightly late.. And the sound is clearly coming from the lower strings such as E or A.. But he definitely only strums the high strings such as B or E..and on top of that his left hand wasn't even in position yet to play those notes

If you slow the speed down to 0.50 you will notice at 3:03 (go to about 3:01 to start it) right after he plugs the amp chord in he quickly hits the D and G strings with a down stroke pauses for a beat then hits the B and E strings, realizes he doesn't have a good handle on the pick, changes his grip on the pick and then goes back up the neck to start strumming again. He knew exact where he was supposed to come in and did it so subtly that it looks like it never happened. I happens so quickly you have to really watch it a few times. The ringing of the strings until he hits the next note at 3:04 is in perfect sync too. At least I think that is the answer.

@@ohno5212 doubt it was an accident, he was constantly changing his pickups mid-solo.. when you watch for it its nuts, he changes his pickup selector all the time throughout the song

It's always dialng them max. I know myself I rarely have anything other than max on any guitar .. I hear the theory the pots should just be removed, maybe that's true? I do use the volumes but tone ... not really.

@@FallNorth Yeah, I use the tone knob just when I try to mimic for example B. B. King's tone which I don't do it that often, so it is same for me. The volume pot has much more value for me 'cause I play rhythm with it dialed back quite a bit and I can boost myself both volumewise and tonewise for solo.
