Saw a comment somewhere. When a long hair cat wearing a cowboy hat, a leopard print duster and snake skin boots shows up you know some shit is about to go down. The cat in the hat with a strat. Finest kind.

I'm sure that just about every sound check they did was like that, a show before the show!! Watching these old live videos is the only chance anyone has that's never seen them in concert to kind of see them in concert and my favorite thing about him playing is that he almost never played his songs or anyone else's songs the same way twice there always different and for me that's one of the reasons why I can watch these videos over and over and hear something different every time. RIP SRV!

🙌🙌👏👏🙌🙌🪅🎉🎸🎶‼️ yes you are right. He was very tired. He had just rolled out of bed, still yawning and rubbing his eyes. But once he picked up his missing piece🎸 he fell in like a boss. At 2:10, I had to laugh because I know you're a guitar player... I first saw Stevie live in late 80's in Memphis TN. He walked out and plugged in, then hit a few notes like that before he started playing the first song. Those first few notes gave me goosebumps. I'll never forget it.

If you noticed he played 11 to 13 gauge strings on his guitar. Along with having extremely large hands and long fingers and strength like an orangutan grip, which was his secret to getting the sound out of the guitar along with specialized pickups. 11 to 13 gauge strings on a guitar is like trying to play piano steel cords and bending them. Try it sometime

Some folks said this was an 11 am check, some say it was his more normal 2-3 pm. He'd say elsewhere that 3 am bed time was "early but I tried to do that when I had another show to do." By the way, those opening licks include a 7-fret hammer-on's. Just ptratice those.

You keep saying he looks tired. I don't know when this was recorded but the last two years of his life were the only sober ones of his life from the time he was 6 years old. There are a lot of musicians that have had lives cut short that left the rest of us wondering what might have been but this one I have a resentful grudge to God for cutting short. In that brief time he was sober he didn't make any music publically until the very end when God granted him his one wish that he vocalized his entire career which was making a record with his big brother Jimmie Vaughan. There was only a couple songs that were actually released. Tik Tok came out after his accident.... think about that one. Personally I believe God felt bad but he couldn't allow Stevie to mess with his plans and save the world before Jesus could get around to it.

He rolled in without no teeth and looked real ragged out. I'm sure he went back to his hotel, napped, and got himself together. Just sayin... You can't play like this unless you're ready to show your ugly. This is the dirtiest, nastiest, stinkiest, most humble, street-level ugly-cry blues that you will ever know. Real Oak Cliff. Real Texas bravado. The West encapsulated. Deep Ellum to Austin. The ultimate guitar slinger.
