What REALLY cemented Em's place in rap was the opening of this entire album. Going from "Kill You" to "Stan" back-to-back? Come on man, get real. THAT is one hell of an opening and completely showcased Em's abilities for shock, cadence, lyrics AND topics. Then does it AGAIN with 2 back-to-back tracks "The Way I Am" and "The Real Slim Shady" Only to drop into "darker themes" with "Drug Ballard", "Amityville" and "Criminal" too? Plus a true "banger" (At least in my opinion" of "Bitch Please 2"? MMLP was/is/always-will-be one of the BEST '2nd album" attempts by ANY artist in ANY genre. I'm not saying it is the best one ever. Just ONE of the best examples of when you can tell that you have something really impactful on your hands. Is there ANY doubt as to why THIS album went Diamond? Just look at what Em did. A "Triple Platinum" album (3mil) for a 1st release followed up by a "Diamond" (10mil) in a span of only a year and a half at most? Yeah, Em was going to be a HUGE influence on the genre for years to come. Nobody knew that it would be DECADES because the "hits" kept coming.

eminem is a movie teller, you just picture the whole story in your head what he is talkin about while riding the flow. look at stan, how he is the same rapper two different kind of personalities coresponding to eachother even he changes his voice, or imagine making all scenes of rap and lyrics in the movie 8 mile basically he was battling himself

When this came out there was nothing like it, so aggressive but funny and super lyrical. Its gets under your skin. Total fire.

You're right. Slim Shady LP showed he was different than others, and could really tell a story. MMLP showed he's on another level, and even took the story telling to another level.

Stevie you missed the part when he said "I said hut up when I'm talking to you, do you hear me? Answer me." Because you actually can't answer since he said shut up, see that's where he gets ya

You know at the end when he says “I’m just playing ladies, you know I love you” at the end of killshot he says “I’m just playing diddy, you know I love you” nobody ever catches that.

You must be a new Em fan
@herrzimm4 жыл бұрын
Only "new" fans miss that. All the people who have been listening to Em for years LAUGHED because of Em using that line in regards to Diddy. Just like they laughed when he did it on White America. It is a genius way of saying "Hey, I didn't really mean what I said, but I MEANT what I said when I said it".
@Joel000004 жыл бұрын
@Randy Mcilveene haha exactly, who isn't catching that? its one of the most obvious well known things from eminem
@herrzimm4 жыл бұрын
@@hikelfin - LOL, maybe because you have been in the same situation like I have. That you say something that "could" hurt someone down the road, and you don't want that. But in that "moment of anger" you aren't going to hold back at all? I mean, THAT is really what makes the whole "I'm just playing..." phrase so comical and yet impactful. It isn't a real "don't come at me" so much as a "put aside your emotions and look at the situation before getting involved". And whenever you have THAT type of situation, it always makes you cringe because so many people are unable to put their emotions aside to be objective about a situation and end up saying/doing something really stupid.
@kevinpowell68014 жыл бұрын
Mario Stipic if every em fan catches that and I caught that then how would that make me a new em fan. Come on now bro. I just stated it because Stevie didn’t catch it.

FYI Stevie! Em wrote nearly all of the MMLP while he was touring for the SSLP. So less than a year had passed since the SSLP, they mixed the album super fast and released it only a year after the SSLP came out.

Hey just to clarify that part where you said well actually Eminem said "I don't do Acid Rap But I rap on acid. There's an underground rapper named Esham that came out of Detroit back in like 1991 sold his mixtape boomin words from hell out of the trunk of his car made a million dollars off selling out of his trunk but his style is called acid rap And then with the theme of the song you don't want to mess with shady the all the stuff about the beefs that artist Esham took that as a diss towards him so his next album he created was called tongues and their six tracks on their disses Eminem even talks about killing Kim and Haley in Eminem never said a word to him about it because on a real note I know the stans are going to start overreacting about this next part but Eminem wanted nothing to do with Esham Not on a lyrical level but he knew if he kept pushing it he'd end up getting killed That's real talk That's facts. Just thought I'd let you know 💯
