Damn, the amount of respect I have for backup singers. The hit EVERY single note perfectly, they harmonize like FEW people can, and they bring the vocal production of a show to the highest level humanly possible. They really are the backbone of the song by making it feel HUGE and powerful. If you’re a non-musician, next time you see a live performance with background singers I strongly suggest you take a couple of minutes to focus only on them and you’ll realize how amazing their work really is!

Yep......99% of the band is mixed perfectly. But, as a sound guy who's had to put up with guitar player egos, I can tell you right now that if the sound guy was given his druthers, he would've buried Wady Waddell's guitar. It was all mid and high end barfed together with a thick layer of distortion that no EQ or slight of hand trickery can fix. Every sound man has a "suck button" for exactly this reason. But, as politics go, the sound guy has to eat so, he does his best with what he has to work with so he can be hired again or continue in his present gig. Its always the guitar players.....always. Lol!

I came to the exact same conclusion. After listening to tons of bands throughout the 70s and 80s. Stevie Nix, Ann Wilson and Bat Benatar were my top three. Everybody says what about so and so... nope sorry. They didn't have that extra special something.

Wachtel absolutely puts on a clinic here. What control at the beginning. One of the truly underrated treasures of the 70s/early 80s.
@DarkBeatVisuals4 жыл бұрын
man his tone is weak he is also completely off rhythm most of the show. I cant give him any credit. It sounds like shit. Sure watchel was a session musician for a ton of records but this isnt his best at all. it really is amateur

I have known Stevie since I was eighteen in 1977 and in 1985, Stephanie introduced me to Tom Petty. Just the most special woman on Earth, kind, sweet, does not tolerate fools and a superb judge of musical talent. Years ago I was told the next best session guitarist in the world to Glen Campbell was Waddy Wachtel, and he is just so good. I love Lindsey Buckingham, and he can play triple harmony with himself, but from BellaDonna through to today, Waddy is just captivating when Stevie is playing solo, he is relentless in his rhythm and if you have ever heard him play power guitar like he did October 5, 1986, at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, on Stevie's Rock A Little Tour, honestly he can easily numb the world's best rock guitarists into silence, just phenomenal and a nice guy. Hope you are well Waddy, and Stephanie, you will always have my love, you are the best ever.

I’ve so often come back to this video for years and years and years. It’s perfection. The perfect timing of every musician’s intro. The great camerawork. The tightest rhythm section. That Les Paul. Note perfect backing harmonies. Evocative violins taking things to another level. And the sheer, mesmerising charisma of the wonderful Ms Nicks, centre stage and in utter command of that stage. It’s a privilege to watch this, every time.
