I am the British Punk Rock Girl in this video. What an experience! It was filmed in Austin at the 501 Studios @ 6th Street on IH 35 N . We started at 4pm and wrapped up after midnight. The Austin Fire Dept. provided the water for the "storm". They sprayed water at Stevie and Double Trouble, and sprayed us as we clawed along the wall in the storm scene. It was just awesome, as MTV was in its infancy. This was something new and exciting: Music Videos!!! The last scene with Stevie's guitar being flooded with a rush of water was so cool, but we were all aghast----were they really going to do it? They did!!! Whoa! We were all gathered around the guitar, out of the camera range, with Austin Fire hosing it down. After the director said "Cut", I realized the spray paint in my mohawk was running down my face. Stevie laughed and handed me a towel to wipe it off.....where is that damn towel now!!! RIP Stevie

SRV's story is probably one of the saddest to be honest. The man fought so hard to overcome his alcohol addiction, and when he finally did, his career took off, only for his life to be cut short. He was and still is one of the best of all time.

I would trade 100% of today’s music for SRV again. Though unfortunately nobody would appreciate him. I’m from outside of St.Louis, you like STL Blues. Well BB King if all people got booed off stage the last time he was here and I’m ashamed I did not make the show. I would have sat there by me self and listened while everyone left. People don’t understand the amount of heart and soul that goes into blues.

I've been listening to this song for about as long as SRV graced us... Still can't get over the interaction between the rhythm section and the main riff that comes in. It's all just too glorious. This is a prime example of blues being taken about as far (and close to rock) as it's ever been taken, while still being blues.

Man i wish i could play like Stevie Ray Vaughan. Coming from a 19 year old almost all the time you walked into my house you would hear Stevie Ray Vaughan in my house. And quite honestly it makes me sad when people hear of him through gh3 from one song. Granted Pride and Joy is a good song but it's sound that's how they came across him. This song was honestly the first song i heard by him and now he is one of my well no he is my favorite guitarist and my inspiration. Will I ever be like him. No because he had such a unique playing style and he had such a bluesy tone too his songs and well yeah I could honestly go on for a while but my point being Stevie Ray Vaughan has such an amazing talent and it is such a shame that he is gone. I honestly wish he was still around because I would definitely go see him live!
@rapaladude5 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s sad that people discovered him through the (crappy) cover on guitar hero. It made them listen to him after all. If they get into it, that’s all that counts. Guitar hero was one of the main reason I got back into playing guitar all those years ago. While now it’s all the greats like Stevie that inspire me to play, I wouldn’t knock any introduction to this virtuoso. Or any great music for that matter. If it weren’t for guitar hero, many younger kids (including myself) may not have ever picked up an actual guitar, or heard any of the great music those games, and rockband, had to offer.

I was at the house of a girl I was seeing that August in 90. I think it was the day after the crash, and the news came over MTV as we were watching. I was devastated. I loved SRV so much. She just said, "Who's Stevie Ray Vaughan?" Didn't see much more of her after that.

Saw him in December 1986 at the grand ole opry. Best guitar player I ever saw live.
