I bought the new Apex trolley about a month ago. I don’t think I’ve stopped smiling yet. Absolutely love it! I went for the 45 hole battery and it will actually do 72 holes which is amazing! I would say it’s transformed the way I play golf! I also had the bag and again that has made such a high difference to the way I transport my trolley. The one major flaw for me is not having a battery indicator on the trolley or the handset. Other than that it’s brilliant!

If the Apex (or VERTX as it’s now called) came with Follow, I’d be all over it! I’m looking forward to seeing how it compares with the Q Follow on some of the hilly sections on my course. I never really use the battery indicator - I just know to charge the trolley every second round to be safe.

@@petermrattray I hadn't noticed the name change until reading your reply. That's a bit of an odd one. I can only assume there's some legal issue surrounding it. I wasn't overly fussed about the follow function, and it effectively works out at £350 so I went with the Apex / Vertex. I also prefer the wheels on the Vertex personally and the new Stewart logo on the back. And not forgetting the new ATC which on paper sounds great. I can definitely say that when going up and down hills or slopes, the trolley never changes speed at all. I'm really getting used to using the trolley now. It takes 5-6 rounds to tweak your routine and remember it's a remote trolley and you don't have to keep walking back to it, it comes to you! The best thing about a remote trolley is when you've hit a green in reg, you can take your putter out of the bag, walk straight up the middle of a green and send your trolley off to the back of the green to meet you there.

Hi Richie how are you getting on with vertx/apex do you find it copes well with hills. Do you have any regrets of not getting follow fiction. Thanks

@@ramsaymacdougall5731 Hi. Still getting on great with the trolley. It's awesome when it comes to hills, that's one of its best features. I've really put that function to the test on some steep hills and uphill or downhill it never changes speed. I personally don't have any regrets not having a follow function. I don't think it's worth the £350 premium which is the difference between a Q and a Vertex. Furthermore, I think the new ATC, extended 45 hole battery, different (better looking) wheels and extended (100m+) range on the remote make the Vertex a better trolley overall anyway. Had one slight problem with the trolley axel which Stewart repaired really quickly. Make sure you keep hold of the original box though. The remote function is all you ever need in reality. These trolleys change the way you play golf, even if you previously had an electric trolley the advantages of a remote trolley are massive. All my friends gave me some friendly banter over mine at first and now they all wish they had one!

Thanks Richard had i seen this earlier I might have just gone for the vertx . I ended up getting the Q follow yesterday. hopefully I get on with it. If I feel I need more control on hill etc i will return and opt for vertx in the 30 days trial. It was a pretty hard decision trying to figure out if I felt i could trust trolley to preform properly and stay safely behind me. or if I would rather see the trolley in front of me at all times the extra battery life and atc would be excellent and have made the decision so much easier if follow had all features the vertx has. as it stands I feel like it’s a compromise and spending this kind of money and not getting all the new technology with the end result being the perfect trolley doesn’t sit well. However it sound like you are very happy with the vertx so maybe it’s not a compromise it’s the prefect trolley. The one thing that I really don’t like is no on board control but that was same on both Appreciate the reply enjoy the golf

How much did the servicing cost from Stewart and is this something they still offer? In a more and more seemingly throw away society it’s nice to see a company back their product with the ability to send in to service / update. Thanks and great follow up review

Thank you very much for all your video reviews. I've watched all of them last winter which made me bought one this Spring. I have had 25 rounds already and I am very hapy with my decision. I was originally debating between this and the MGI Zip AT Navigator. But the follow me function was the determining factor. Although, I find 2 small issues. First, when you walk away in the follow me mode, it can get very wild! It's like a prancing horse. The solution was to slowly and gently walk away to give time and establish a good connection between the remote and the unit. Although at times, I tend to forget that when I am in a hurry. Second is the unit is jerky when steering left or right. When I put in on glide mode, the turning radius is too big. I wish there was a way to increase or decrease it so you can always be in glide mode. Another solution that Stewart can do is probably test or experiment on swivling forn wheels just like the MGI AT Zip Navigator. Obviously, there is really no electric cart that does everything perfectly but I think Stewart Q Follow is the best out there right now. I can not imagine golfing without this again!
@petermrattray Жыл бұрын
I think the solution for your 'prancing horse' issue is to always walk in a straight line away from the trolley for a start, and make gradual direction changes. If I suddenly change direction, the trolley gets confused and can zig / zag until it finds where it's going again. If I slow down my walking pace, it sorts itself out a lot quicker!

Thanks for the update. I bought one a couple of months ago based partly on your reviews, your experience and the brief exchange we had in the comments. Early days but I’ve been super impressed with it up until now in some difficult conditions and I’m now really looking forward to seeing how well it will no doubt preform in the easier summer course conditions!

I’m glad you’re still loving the trolley… and let’s cross our fingers that the weather starts improving soon. It’s May, and it still feels like winter 😂

I will consider the next Q Follow if it gets ATC. Any idea as to when the next will be launched? Late 2023 maybe?
@petermrattray Жыл бұрын
I’m in the middle of testing the VERTX with ATC. Although it’s really cool, I don’t know how much you’d use the ATC in a follow trolley - as most of the time it’s behind you. Would be nice for it not to run you down on hills though!! Stewart say they have no plans currently to replace the Q-Follow… so who knows when?
@janthellefsendahl3409 Жыл бұрын
How often would you say the follow-function fail on the Q-Follow? Is it on every round or less? I have an older Caddy Trek which I bought primarily due to the follow-function and right from the start I was disappointed with the follow-function which is not all that reliable and then its really more of a nuisance than a help on the round.
@petermrattray Жыл бұрын
@@janthellefsendahl3409 how do you mean by the follow function failing? Do you mean the trolley following, you look behind, and it’s 100 yards behind you? If so, I think I’ve had this a handful of times in my 2 years ownership. It’s usually because I’ve walked (almost ran) too fast for the trolley to keep up… or if I was taking it over a really hilly / undulating section of the course.
@janthellefsendahl3409 Жыл бұрын
I mean how often it fails to actually follow you. A handful of times in 2 years is acceptable I think. Thank you for your answers. It has been very helpful.

Your reviews of this trolley have been excellent, really considering getting one of these and your reviews have certainly helped. I've never had an electric trolley before just push ones but the more I see this it puts me off the standard Motocaddy/Powacaddy ones for a few reasons, mainly the back stabilizing wheels and the follow function of course. Really good info on the service Stewart done too, does that come as standard with all of their trolleys?
@petermrattray Жыл бұрын
Thanks - I’ve got a new video coming out in the next few days. Just finishing off the testing of the new Stewart Golf VERTX. I’m not entirely sure what their standard service procedure is. I’d seen the new bag strap and thought it looked like an upgrade, so was pleased to get it included!

Thanks for the review. Was your service a fixed price service? Did you request any change of parts?
@petermrattray Жыл бұрын
Details of the service can be found here: shop.stewartgolf.co.uk/collections/support/products/q-series-services?variant=40918631252079 I did query about the new bag strap update, and when it was returned, that had been fitted.

Didnt know a Stewart trolley service existed! Might do that now after seeing this Peter. Do you think it was worth it? Btw pushing the trolley up 13 & 14 - gadz 🤣

A tough slog pushing the last 6 holes! I’ve had creaky wheels since the service, and am not sure why. I’ve been advised to spray some PTFE spray into the wheels, so I’ve done that tonight and will see if it helps tomorrow.

@@petermrattraygreat videos. Your reviews led me to purchase one a few months ago. Just today I noticed the wheels squeaking. Can you let me know if you were able to fix the problem?
@petermrattray Жыл бұрын
@@josephadams2550 yes… buy a tin of PTFE spray. A dry lubricant. WD40 do one, as do GT85 (and other brands). Remove the wheels, and give a few second blast into the inside of the wheels, and a little spray on the axels. Refit the wheels. Mine went from being really creaky to virtually silent after that. I’m not sure if it’ll be a long term fix, or if I’ll have to do that every few rounds though. I played my 4th since doing it yesterday, and it was still quiet though.
