Historical fact. There was an RAF who had no legs. Joined in 1928, lost his legs in 31 in a plane crash, eventually rejoined. Had 22 victories during the war before being shot down and captured by the Germans, escaped. Recaptured and sat out the rest of the war in one of the toughest POW camps the Germans had. Total badass. Douglass Bader. R.I.P.

To be fair losing his legs was entirely his fault because he got cocky and did a loop in his trainer after graduating and crashed, the wreckage pinned his legs and they were amputated, so in other words, karma is a bitch.

Well one of the advantages he had other the others is that due to not having legs, when pulling high G maneuvers, blood could not flow much down, so he could sustain high Gs better than most other people. And at that time spitfires where often limited not by the machine but by the pilot
