This guy needs to just pay. The construction guy seems so honest and completed everything he said he did and wasn’t greedy. Only charged for what he did. I’d hire him any day.

I’ve hired dozens of contractors and as difficult as they can be, I can’t stand people who make excuses to avoid paying hard working people. Excellent judgment on this case 👍

My dad's a contractor and for the past year he's been dealing with this absolute LUNATIC of a former customer. Before she went nuts she had loved his work to the point of recommending him to other people AND she had been his mother's best friend so he literally knew her all of his life. We haven't heard from her in months though so we hope that she's finally left him alone

The defendant can afford a designer hoodie, and a nice home, but he really has to pay for his renovations -- the hardworking plaintiff learned not to trust his customers the hard way, I feel bad for him -- it's really hard to find an honest contractor.

At the end of the segment when John and JM are talking about worries/fears. And JM said she wakes up in the middle of the night with terrible thoughts of her kids being dead in a ditch. I was relieved that I'm not the only one that thinks such horrible things. I have the worst fears and thoughts when my kids are not near me. And the truth is I sleep better when we are all under the same roof. Ugh the struggle is real as a mom. Glad she shared that...

The Judge is so put together, intelligent, educated, classy/rich, has an incredible husband, is emotionally secure, financially comfortable for the rest of her and her children’s lives and owns multiple houses….and yet still has the same kind of anxiety I suffer with. That the worst case scenario is gonna happen to someone I love. Husband is late 10 minutes? Dead in a ditch. And I only feel completely at peace when everyone I love, including my animals, are right here with me…safe and sound. It’s fascinating (not a good thing, but interesting) to see that specific type of anxiety isn’t based on income or social class. I think its why ppl may see us as controlling. Because our anxiety is telling us that we can keep our loved ones safe and that we love them so much…so they should just be here with us. It comes off as controlling. Even if we genuinely want our loved ones to venture out and be successful without us holding their hand.

"Pay me when the work is done." Wow. What motivation do deadbeats have to pay up then? I've hired a number of contractors and it's always in about 3 payments. I'm surprised this guy hasn't been stiffed before now, in his whole 2 years of experience. I hope he learned something here. Cheapskate def. might also want to hire someone for whom so many jobs aren't 'out of his realm'. Yeah, it costs more but you might not end up in court.

Unfortunately, an honest person expects others to be honest. You live and learn. Any time you do extended work for someone, you take 30-50% up front, and then you specify when such and such is done, you expect a certain percentage to be paid, and the balance is paid when the job is complete. Often times, customers will hold off payment because they'll find any excuse or flaw as to why they're not satisfied so as to not pay.
