Please do a exhaust dyno comparison with various muffler outlet size openings. People are clueless about exhaust velocity vs backpressure.

You’re correct Joe that is the Kolbenschmidt mark on that 034 cylinder. Kolbenschmidt actually is producing the cylinders currently for Husqvarnas Brazilian saws The 395xp 288xp 281xp and 272xp

The 034 super has been my go too , for firewood for 20 years. I 2 that run. One is ported. And a 3rd is a basket case waiting on parts. So I'm a fan . Well done sir.

Hey Joe nice work on all the power saws and content ,really enjoying it. And chance you would consider porting a Husqvarna high powered hedger and throwing it on the Dyno? They are are hovering around 50cc as is would be interesting to see if you could make a monster out of one . 525HE4 Professional or 522HDR 7DS professional.

My 044 10mm and 034 have clearanced rod's like that. My 034 doesn't have bridges in the transfers which I've never seen before it was 102°EX 121° transfers 72°IN with the base gasket all stock.

Yes the ks is a kolbinshcmidt cylinder and on certain models of Stihl it’s deemed the better cylinder for port size and shape but depends on models. I think every 075/076 I’ve looked at was a ks

I built it for a work saw not a shelf queen. The tank vent is better on the 360 tanks and I prefer flippy caps to work. I like the non decomp 034s cylinders better than the 036 cylinders. Basically just a custom job. I have a nos 034s as well.

Have not ported a 028, but most small saws gain well.

The 028s are kinda heavy for their CC size but they are such a tank of a little saw, love them. Willing to bet they would take to porting pretty well, the 028 supers are pretty torquey stock, and they have a pretty nice pop up piston stock.

Anyone know where to get get high quality bearings for the 028super? I'm interested in starting to port saws but I'd have to get a more modern saw to start with as I don't to blow up a classic on my first try..

@@seanmchugh4283 most stihls have a proprietary crank bearing on the clutch side that you’ll need to get it through a Stihl dealer. Get both sides from the dealer, price is pretty much in line with any other standard sized high end bearing.

What difference should be kept between the exhaust from the cylinder and the muffler in % There is a rule.

I don't really use a percentage on the worksaws. Normally remove the baffles, and add 1/2"-5/8" hole and deflector.

I don't think that is an 034S. I'm pretty sure an 034S wouldn't have flippy caps. The 034s was probably short lived and turned into the 036.

I’m no Stihl guru, but I’ve been told the big difference is in the cylinders. The Supers had closed ports, where the normal had open ports.

Standard 034 is 57cc, 036 and 034 super are 62cc. Some of the standard 034 have open ports but most are closed ports, and all the 034 supers and 036s are closed ports. I think the saw joe worked on is an ms360 arctic with the air filter and plastics from an 034S.
