GP there are many different opinions on saw break-in. Chris's Husky dealer told him just go out and run his new 592 saw. Both my IL and Wisc Stihl dealers told me to take it easy for the first few tanks of fuel. Run the saw at half throttle or vary the rpm's but limit full throttle for long periods of time. As I mentioned before, after running about 10 or so tanks the saw has improved performance. Cheers, hope you get your saw soon, I know firsthand how hard it is to be patient waiting for it.

I idled and babied my ms261 first tank the second tank opened it up and she puked and sputtered and stalled out had to go back dealer to reset mtronics on the computer. It wouldn’t even start just flooded. Now no issues running it like it is supposed too. Might have been my fault it burped and released choke now I pull until she runs on start.

Looked like an absolute perfect day to be in the woods cutting! I sure wish both saw manufacturers made a dead wood oiler setting. All the way up is never enough oil for cutting dead wood especially with longer bars. It makes for alot of bar wear and chain plug ups like you had in video. The EPA or whoever cringes at the thought of 1 drop of oil hitting the ground need to help pay for the premature bar wear out...Thanks for video!👍

youd be surprised what a bark box/egen straight shot muffler and a maxflow air filter will do to most new stihls. yes they are loud but when u consider the close to 1hp gains on top of a saw that cools better and has better throttle response its worth the extra 100-150 bucks. i also like the 461 over the 462. alittle more displacement. and i like a 24 inch bar too i only like big bars when i gotta stump a real big tree thats like 4-5 feet across. 28 isnt bad either if its a lightweight bar. great video though keep it up. i gotta get ready to go take out a goliath ash tree for the city. bringing the 088 along for this one lol. its gotta be 5 foot at the stump. luckily city trees are always right by the road so we can use a bucket truck. if it was in a backyard that would suck lol

About Europe: At least for Nordics (Norway and Sweden as examples), most use even smaller bars. They mostly run 13-16" and in general smaller saws (40-60 cc range), most farmers etc wants lower weight and flexibility. There is a nice channel to see how professionals in Sweden work, unfortunately it is in Swedish, but I highly recommend to have a look at a few videos to see the technique. He is called "Oslättfors Trädfällning", I'm sorry if I'm not allowed to post other channels here and please tell me to remove it, if so.

The 400 is more than 60cc, it’s actually 67. I recently bought the 400 with 20’ bar and it’s a fantastic saw. Only 5cc less than 462 but weighs less too
@InTheWoodyard2 жыл бұрын
Yup, I ran one and the 500 is a much better/faster saw in my opinion and the 462 is also.

good afternoon i want to ask about the saw which do you prefer stiletto or husqvarna? all my friends mostly say that the stalk is the best saw because it has great power and light weight

Love Tony’s cutting chaps, his true colors are showing. Probably has Husky underwear. Admit it Tony, you’re finally coming out of the closet. Put down the crooked cutting Stihl and pick up the Husky, you know you want to!! Tell him Chris, feel the power of the orange side!

After I bought my MS462c I bought a used MS362c a second/back-up saw. I had used other 60 cc saws previously but I was so used to the power of the MS462c that I thought there was something wrong with it. It was just so slow in comparison. It got so I didn't want to use it. I sold it and bought the MS400c which is only a few cc's more but for whatever reason runs a lot faster and would keep up better with the MS462c. Just like Tony I now have a MS500i and MS462c. I find the 500i better in bigger wood. It tends to four-stroke a bit in smaller wood. The 462c will run right with the 500i in the smaller to mid-range stuff but if you get into anything really big the 500i shines. Nice work out there boys. I look forward to seeing your progress. It looks like you could be there for as long as you want to keep going. Dave
@TonysCoolTools2 жыл бұрын
Dave you’re spot on, I had my 362 on that trip and after using the 462 at half throttle and 500 wide open it seemed I was waiting forever for the 362 to finish a cut. Don’t get me wrong the 362 is a great saw but we’ve gotten spoiled with more power on the 462/500i saws.
@oakrunacres25642 жыл бұрын
@@TonysCoolTools If you've only ever used 50-60 cc saws then the 362c is a great saw. Once you get a taste for a 70+ cc saw with a 24" bar for standing up and bucking 12" + wood it's hard to go back. The 261c, 362c and other saws in that class are great for smaller stuff, limbing or if you have physical limitations that prevent you from using a bigger heavier saw..... Although the 462c and 500i aren't a whole lot heavier. No let's talk about those Husqvarna chaps and suspenders you were wearing. Are we going to have to put your Stihl membership under review? 😁. Does your tractor with grapple fit in your new trailer? The logistics of what you're trying to do are a worry. I think this new lot is over an hours drive from the woodyard and on a good day you might fell and buck a trailer load or 2 cord and get it back to the woodyard. With a log landing using log trucks you'd save over 7 return trips in your own truck for every log truck. Hiring a log truck isn't cheap but doing 7 return trips in your truck isn't either. Using your tractor you'd probably get close to felling a log truck full in a day or maybe two and what a great time for Ken to pay a visit. It's your choice but using your truck you'll get 4 cord in two days compared to 16 to 32 cord using log trucks in the same time. You could come out of there with a couple of hundred cord in two weeks. You might have to divert a few trucks to Ken's and Tony's though.

Everytime someone offers me free wood it's over a hillside 20ft tangled in briars,lol. Liking the 462,and though I know husqvarna makes a good saw,they're not for me. Never really liked their outboard clutch and crank bearings,but that's just me. I run a 441cm as my 70cc saw and aside from it being kinda heavy it's done great for 10+ years pulling a 28" bar. If I were to buy a new bigger saw itd probably be a 462.
