Bill, another issue that would cause the symptoms you are getting, is if the Tank Vent is clogged. The tank would gradually build up a vacuum as the fuel is sucked out by the fuel pump, then when the vacuum reaches a point where the fuel pump diaphragm cannot pull more fuel, you will get a stumbling in the engine as it is starving for more fuel. Replace your fuel filters and Tank vents every year.

that is a good point you say about

Maybe worth changing the accelerator pump in the carburettor! It's behind the brass plug near where the throttle cable on you don't have to take the end caps off to get to it. It's a small piston with an oring on it and they wear out!

Any Stihl part you can possibly name is expensive, especially on the line trimmers, I have if I remember right, a FS85 trimmer that has a cracked gas tank, (bought it that way from previous owner). I priced a new one from a Stihl dealer and about fell over, what the tank listed for I could almost purchase a complete trimmer, it was listed at $93.00 USD, 3 years ago, for a piece of plastic that weighs less than a pound and that was without the gas line, filter and gas cap. I ended up heat welding the crack, it still has a slight leak but at least I can trim everything in yard before it runs out of gas.

HI BILL, TRY TAKING SPARK ARESTER OFF MUFFLER. EITHER CLEAN IT OR THROUGH IT AWAY. RUNNING IT AT HALF THROTTLE WILL PLUG THE ARESTER FASTER THAN NORMAL. I RUN MINE THE SAME WAY. MINE WAS PLUGGED UP AND I THROUGH IT AWAY AND IT RUN LIKE NEW!!! GOOD LUCK

Bill if you want gas without ethanol go to the boat marina they don't put ethanol in boat gas at least they don't in the town next to me here in southwest michigan or check the internet in your area for ethanol free gas.

You should get yourself an ultrasonic cleaner, they work awesome to clean the carb parts & they are pretty cheap
@billstmaxx7 жыл бұрын
that's what i was wondering about
@Newman819645 жыл бұрын
The Carb manufacturers say you shouldn't use the ultrasonic cleaners because they will strip the coating off the carb and make the metal permeable and cause fuel leak problems. They say you should just use the spray type carb cleaner and spray it down good.
