Thanks very much, this was very useful for me. I'd never encountered the lever centering spring before until mine broke and fell out. Now I know what I need to fix it.

Been searching for this as it seems everyone overlooks it. I thought about making one myself. Mine is an MS250 but it is the same.

Hi. Thanks for the comment. Was the vid easy to find, or should I change the description? The 023 and 025 are very similar, nice lightweight saws. The 025 runs a .325 chain from what I remember. Cheers, Andy

Andy Reynolds Maybe call it the Stihl chain brake assembly rebuild. I assume that most Stihl's use the same system.

Replaced the engine with one I found on eBay and discovered the flat spring in pieces. Timely for me! Thanks! Engine replaced was a Stihl and shows 150 psi compression. Any opinion on the Stihl tool for installing the big spring?

Hi. It is common for the chainbrake centring spring to fail. To install the main spring I just use a lage screw driver in the spring loop and on the spring peg. I think I show this somewhere, maybe the 026 rebuild series. Cheers

Sir i own a ms390 i think i've burnt the chain brake band as the brake no longer stops the chian in fact i cant tell if the brake is on or off anymore i dont think it has anything to do with the lever itself morso the band or clutch any advise for me?
@TheInfoworks8 жыл бұрын
you will have to investigate, take the bar and chain off, then remove the clutch drum. The video tells you what to do. Cheers
