Absolutely NOT A supercharged G37 ROFL
@CarandRacer9 жыл бұрын
Ali G First, it isn't my car. That said, I've owned a G37S many moons ago - they run (at best) 13.9's at 104 MPH with great DA. On average 14.0-14.2's at 102 MPH. I don't know how much direct (meaning you do it) experience you have with racing (you have zero videos of any car you own on your channel) - but a 110 MPH trap (and he ran 112 in another video) - is proof by itself that this car had more that a CAI and exhaust on it. Trap speed is the cars potential, ET is traction. But you were ROFL'ing - please do let me know what you think this car is. Stock?

+CarandRacer dude, 03 Nissan maxima with 255 HP dips into 13's. Boosted G37 is well into 12, even 11
@CarandRacer9 жыл бұрын
+NIGHTMAREuki Lol, this video...Dude. Where to start? There is the internet and then there is real-life experience. Let's take your 255 2003 Maxima's running 13's. First thing real-life experience people know is that there is ET and then there is Trap speed. There is 60 foot and then there is potential power. I have seen Maxima's hit 14.3's for example - but with a 97 MPH trap. What does this tell us? That the car may have been quick enough, perhaps due to good traction from a nice prep to eek out a low 14 second run stock. But the 97 MPH tells me his car is not very powerful (but still about right for that car). Magazines - such as Car and Driver tested the 2003 Maxima and got a 14.7 ET - but here's the thing - with the same trap speed as the guy who ran a 14.3. This means his traction/60 foot, likely due to being tested on an unprepped road, is what caused the discrepancy. So what does this have to do with this video and the car in it that I don't own? His trap speed was between 112 and 114 MPH all night. Now - if his tune is not optimal, that trap speed may improve - I don't know the size of the SC he was running, nor at what boost - which can in fact make someone get into the low 12's and high 11's - but what the 112 to 114 MPH does tell me is that his car - as it sits - is a mid 12 second car with a half decent 60 foot - which he was not getting. This is why, when I went to the track with my actual car, an Alpha 16 GTR, a couple of weeks ago and only ran a 9.0 at 169 MPH on medium boost due to a terrible 1.7 60 foot (which is why we stayed on my medium boost setting as I was getting wheel hop and there was no point turning it up) - we stopped and just dialed in the car for the rest of the track rental. Now we will go out next week and see what the car can really do. My point? My trap speed tells me all I need to know - the potential of what my car can do. Puts on Toretto voice; ask any racer and they will tell you - trap speed lets you know the cars potential - not the ET. There were two cars with low and mid 160 MPH traps that pulled mid 8 and low 8's respectively that same day. My same package in the US has gone 8.11, 7.99 and 7.97 - so it all becomes about the 60 foot. Videos of that day are also on my channel. Peace.

@CarandRacer9 жыл бұрын
+NIGHTMAREuki Sigh. I am going to guess you didn't read all of my response? All this video does is prove my point. 121 MPH is usually good for a high 11 with an average to not so great 60 foot. Here's my stock MB running an identical time with the same trap speed - watch?v=j3co9eaQTbs. This is not a slam, but I am going to guess you may not have as much direct, at the track experience. Any car can be made fast. There are 8 second and faster civics. What I am writing about is how ET and Trap Speed work. And that through the trap speed I can tell what potential the car has ET wise. It doesn't mean they will get that ET or that we should say that car has done it - only that it is possible. I agree a 13.64 is not a good ET for his mods. But his trap speed says he can do a lot better.Peace.

I actually owned a stock G37 before my GTR & ran a consistent 14.2 at 102 MPH. Track temps and DA can make the difference between a 14.2 and 13.9 ET. The key difference here is his MPH; 110. With good traction and conditions - that is a mid-high 12 second car. I'm running 9.90's but at 147 MPH on pump gas - with slicks - that would be a low to mid 9 second run. When I try my race fuel settings my R888's won't hold the power so my ET will suck, but my MPH should be 155+. Videos on my channel.

It did. The car had massive wheelspin. The key is the trap speed - G37's trap 102 on average and 104 at the most stock. He was trappng into the 112 MPH range which should be good for a low 13 or high 12. I know alot of people think this is slow - but alot of people have no experience at the track.

The SRT 6 is definitely a great platform - although, I'm guessing you will likely have an intake, intercooler, heat exchanger, and intake manifolds besides the pulley and tune mods to hit 12.1's at 114-115 MPH. For only the supercharger - the G37 did okay for such a heavy car - and I have a video on my channel where he hits a 112 MPH trap. With a better tune and some supporting mods I'm sure he can hit mid to low 12's. Cheers and Thanks for Watching!

ET is traction. He had zero traction - but the MPH shows that he had a power adder. Was it properly tuned? Probably not. But an extra 10 MPH to stock proves it was modified.

This video keeps me going lol...As per my other comments below and above...it isn't the ET everyone should be worrying about...it's the MPH. ET is (mostly) traction. These cars - of which I had one - will run 14.0-14.2 on a poopy prep test and tune day.The key here is though - they will run that at 102-104 MPH. The car in this video was running 110 MPH - and also ran a 112 MPH that day. No stock G37 will run that MPH - ever. @@CarandRacer I know it's not your car, and I know that this video was uploaded a long time ago, so appreciate your response. However, in 2008, Motor Trend tested the stock G37 in the 1/4 mile, and it got 13.5 sec at 105mph. A simple Google search will reveal that. The one in this video put down a similar time, and 5 additional mph at the top end is in the noise. A slight tail-wind, a better prepped surface or better tires can make that difference. Point is, with a Stillen supercharger, which bumps power output by at least 100HP depending on the tune, expectation would be high 12s and about 115-120. The car in this video might have cat-back, aftermarket intakes and such, but it sure as hell isn't supercharged. If it is, then it's a terrible install and tune, because it gets the same 1/4 mile time as stock and only a few mph higher trap speed, which, again, can be explained with variability factors. ✌️
@CarandRacer10 ай бұрын
No @@ganymede3141- 5-7 MPH on an NA car is not in the noise. That is a lot of MPH, especially for a low HP/torque car. I had a NA G37S as a daily and I can tell you they run 13.9-14.2 at 102-104 MPH on average. 110-112 MPH is no where close to stock - even on a unicorn DA racing day. Expectation is the problem - this guy built the car himself and it had a Stillen canned tune. That is a recipe for disaster if everything isn't up to spec. ET - is mostly traction - that is why I don't look at it as my first indicator. I look at MPH - which is what the car is capable of. As an example; someone in the Corvette world was trying to say they beat a stock car world record - and they did from an ET standpoint. But when I looked at their MPH - they were about 8-10 MPH above stock average - which is way too high to explain with super cool DA conditions. It was in fact - a tuned car. A few MPH on an NA car at this level is 1-2 MPH. These are not FI cars - and even those at this power level will only fluctuate 2-4 at the most. 8-10 MPH fluctuation would take a pretty big build - on a night and day different DA - like July heat wave and October negative DA. That is how big 8-10 MPH is on average (as all of his runs were 110-112 MPH).
@ganymede314110 ай бұрын
@@CarandRacer Funny how 330 HP is (low HP/torque). In the '80s that was supercar territory. 😂 But a good 20 mph tail-wind can easily give an extra 5mph trap speed by reducing top end drag, which is proportional to the square of the air velocity. And if 5mph and same 1/4 time as stock is the best that the Stillen supercharger can do, that's pathetic and weak AF. Stock Stillen tune is worthless (as evidenced by this video, assuming it has one, and not just some cat-back or other such mods).
@CarandRacer10 ай бұрын
No @@ganymede3141...this is the difference between reading the internet and trying to quote math and actual racing experience. 330 HP and 270 lb feet is not supercar territory in the 80's or especially now - which is why it is difficult to have discussions with people who don't have much actual track experience. For example a 20 MPH tailwind is not providing 5 MPH to someone's trap speed - like it is a constant bonus number anyone gets regardless of how fast the car is lol. The G37S weighed about 3800 lbs - that is not a light car. It was peppy-ish, but it is not a 13.5's consistent car. And it definitely is not a 110-112 MPH trapping car - which is how we know the car was modified. How well it was modified and tuned is another discussion. And has nothing to do with how good or bad the product is.

Or just buy a stock supercharged SRT 6 like the one I'm selling and run 12.1's @114 on stock tires;)

Doubt that’s supercharged, N/A g37’s can hit 60 in 4 seconds absolute flat. Boosted one making 500+ hp, which would’ve ripped that challenger way harder

Lol on the "technical" racing-speak...4 seconds absolute flat...ripped that Challenger. How about the MPH? 110? He ran 112 MPH as well. So many posts from so many people who do not race.

G37s isn't a good car that challenger got more wheels spin so the g37s had time to take off

Lol...I have videos with 1900 HP cars on my channel and this video gets so much attention. I know it's a part of the fun with cars - but the truth is there's no magic; power, weight and traction. Whoever has this in the best combo - driver being equal - wins. There's no magic - or "better car".
