Kuro is a joke. 3/3 games are shameless clones. Twintails BG is a clone of GGZ, PGR is a clone of HI3, Wuwa is a clone of genshit. And quality of their clones is breaking the floor. Can't wait for a day when mihoyo decide to simply remove them from the market. And they can.

In comparison, Genshin tried to shut its playerbase down while ignoring feedback all the way up to 1st Anniversary, which was one of the biggest contributors to the whole review bomb riot The anniversary rewards sucked? Too bad. Wanted buffs for a character that was way undertuned? Too bad. Resin issues? Deal with it. Climbing on objects during battle by accident? Skill issue. Artifact grinding is annoying? Grind harder dumbass. I'm exaggerating a bit, obviously, but... there were so many issues with Genshin and they basically ignored them, until the riots broke out and players weren't going to have anything less than them properly addressing some of those issues. And that was exactly what they had to do with buffing Zhongli and give the community a note that they were finally going to consider doing that after at least a month or idk how long of ignoring the issue, then finally outlining what they would do for those buffs. And that was after the increase in Anniversary rewards that failed to satisfy everyone because they weren't enough nor what people wanted in the first place And... Genshin went with the demonizing its playerbase route. Media article coverage? Yeah, all of it was basically about how the players went wild review bombing other things -- not that they had all platforms lock down their review sites so the ratings wouldn't tank and the score wouldn't move no matter how many 1*s were added. Plus they restricted posting on the review pages and filtered reviews - which was why it went everywhere else in the first place. They could have gone in and tried clearing things up with media to make the playerbase not seem like the worst chaotic gremlins in the world, but... nope~!! And the consequence of that is what you see in the Genshin community today Most of the sane people left Genshin by now =_=;; probably. Either that or they are masochists ;w;

they should understand the very basic concept of " signing a contract" ( including exclusivity clauses and NDAs). Not the case of the JP case that caused this drama ( he didn't have any signed contract) but among "former" GI CC and drama makers ( * cough cough*) that seems an outlandish practice to do.

It's a sad truth that exclusivity clauses are a thing everywhere. Kuro themselves were very much inspired by HI3 for PGR and love games in general, the reason why people love playing their games is because they put a lot of passion into making them, they take feedback into account often, because they've formed a trust based relationship as the foundation of their brand. And they don't get everything right all the time either, sometimes they screw up and they usually fix it if we're vocal enough about a problem. The Devs willing to take constructive criticism and let people say whatever they want are the ones that will only improve and make better games players want to play.

Agreed, but as much as I am a spender on PGR and how much I dislike the whole issue with packs not being cheaper/discounted, I do have to admit they were kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place with that one and while I’d like to see them change it eventually going forward, realistically I know them making those changes that we want is almost certainly gonna piss off CN regardless that they spend the most anyways, or rather more so because they spend the most. Sure its a bad consumer practice to expect a typical payer to throw thrice the cost in the same time window compared to someone else who sat comfy during those same periods, but it’s also kinda a bad consumer practice to do something that would throw the piss at your main consumers that provide the most funding. And trust me, things could go bad very quickly especially from CN, given there’s that precedent with the whole Hoyo Bunny incident, and while not CN related but tangential to the topic, just look at FGO where JP players complained Global got a special social media post program (no rewards, purely just community interaction) thing that was an idea completely spearheaded by the Aniplex En localizing team and they basically bullied the team/Aniplex to also make them do those posts in JP. Not really intentionally trying to sound racist here because there’re a fair share of crazies in the community here in the west, but some parts of the Asian gacha communities are just on a whole different yet equally as bad level.

i think the issue with the japanese hoyo drama is that they allegedly dropped a certain JP CC while this japanese CC played only hoyo games he was still dropped. while NDA and exlusivity contracts is normal im glad this kinda happened coz hoyo was exposed for this and he also plays Wuwa now and enjoys playing it also Happy New Year, Stix

Been playing WuWa since launch and Kuro as a dev is such a breathe of fresh air. It's actually wild these days to encounter a dev that actually listens to its players so keenly and carefully. It's a complete night and day difference after years of being ignored and treated as nothing more than a statistic and expendable cash cow by the likes of Hoyo (and seeing how they gatekept the free primos AFTER the Archon banner leaves shows that they have not changed one bit)

Not even just the Archon banner, just both new banners. Mavuika and Citlali work really well together, and they put all the free pulls after them, like dang. I pulled Mavuika and lost 50/50 on Citlali, but I can probably still squeeze out getting Citlali, but it's gonna be hard without those pulls from the second half.

Yup, been a thing with Genshin not wanting to listen to players. 1st Anniversary should have been the biggest red flag. Media portrayal? "Genshin fans are out of control" -- Reality: Genshin fans were protesting with review bombs on Genshin pages in protest of voices not being heard by developers over the course of the entire year with anniversary rewards being the final nail in the coffin to start a review bomb campaign - which Genshin tried to silence by locking down all review pages, prevented postings, and censoring the playerbase, which is why it ended up overflowing and spreading everywhere instead And there was an entire laundry list of issues people were complaining about too for Genshin... =x and it was both CN and global complaining, and both sides were being ignored For better or worse, Genshin has the playerbase it deserves to have. And I have to say it is mostly for the worst with how much BS happens there. But that's what they've earned themselves with those shenanigans over the years, with 1st Anniversary really highlighting exactly what's up I'm aware they've fixed *some* things for Genshin. But really. A number of them seem to be by small increments like they are intentionally drip feeding updates that should really be done all at once. Resin cap increases? Lol. Wuwa has had a higher cap since launch that is workable, while Genshin is several years in and only just reached a somewhat workable 200 not super long ago =_=;;

I was waiting for Stix to talk about it, because I knew he had been making mmorpg content for many years even before gachas became something to talk about. gachas are like the evolution of mmorpg, so they have a lot of similarities, it doesn't surprise me that both industries do the same, I say this essentially because world of warcraft was a dominant game for 15 years, people think that Genshin/hoyo is monopolizer, then you are a rookie, you have not experienced even 4 part of what was experienced in the world of warcraft/blizzard era, these pioneering companies all do the same thing, believe it or not, hoyo forces their content creators to cover only their games and even prevents them from reacting on social networks to other gaming content.

This is what I remember from you when you talked to Tectone back then. I think that was WuWa's CBT and even prior to PGR PC client release. Also, this " company philosophy" also reflects with how they treat their players. Don't get me wrong, they're still a for-profit company afterall but such company policies deserve to be commended. A studio that tries to block u from covering their competition is not a good studio, it just shows they have no faith on their product, their games and their devs/designers. Its just sad to see, imagine ur working for one of those companies where the people in charge dont believe ur work is good enough to stand on its own. Kuro is a prime example of a good studio, cause they r very much comfidente in their games and on their contents, and also their ability to grow as a studio, and that shows on how they handle business, marketing and colabs.

One thing I will always remember during the CBT2 was when I watching a stream and a content creator outright said that Kuro encouraged comparison with other games in response to a viewer who brought up their concerns (especially when Genshin was named a couple of times). In the end, even though Kuro is still a company that makes mistakes, they are so open to listening to both criticism and praise in order to create a better game which has gained a lot of people's trust. I hope that five years down to the line, this remains true.

playing from day 1, on my sd 865....a little disappointed at first because there were so many problems on the mobile device. One time I read someone's post that the Kuro office lights remained on in the middle of the night...ah, that was just a gimmick in my opinion. but in the game you really feel the difference... because at the beginning of the patch there were so many updates... almost every day you have to download updates. There I felt that this team was really trying its best for Wuwa. The best part...I sent an email to Kuro about the problem with the device...magic...they replied...they provided guidance and even promised to re-optimize it through the latest update. they really listening....I hope Kuro stays like that

The flip-side is if Company X wants dedicated content creators, then they should hire them as employees, as reps. But what matters is contract law. If said company makes something up after an agreement, then boo on them. In the case of Kuro, they have no gripe because the games are good. At peak player base, they are shelling out for warmed up container instances, when player base dips, or f2p % increases, they fight tooth and nail for good press because that's when it matters. It's not cheap to run cloud service, it's worse on-premise. It's still crappy to be like that. Most of us don't play just one game and content creator review should help shape the future of gaming.

I could have guessed the PC version of PGR would probably suck. The combat controls especially pertaining to the PING system is pretty much made for touch controls to easily activate the ping you want. You can use controller with the mobile version but controlling 8 +1 seperate ping options takes a lot of muscle memory practice if youre trying to be good at it, a lot more than with touch controls.

Like how if he attacks you, some times you can counter him to stun him. Or how when playing as rover, you could cancel your basic attack into a special attack to leap at scar to close the gap. BUT THEN, I got further in the game, I pulled the robot guy, and from that point, there were no more mechanics. It was just evade enemy attacks and spam basic attack, spam your aoe super attack, rinse and repeat. And it just felt like, this mindless spam game where nothing ever happens and I absolutely hate that I play games like monster hunter generations ultimate and monster hunter rise sunbreak. Where you have to be extremely careful when you time your basic and special attacks. And as someone who invests in quality games, I felt betrayed Please let me know what you think of this ALSO, surprisingly, I feel punishing grey raven is actually better than wuthering waves. Because it has more mechanics, combos, gimmicks, ect

I’ve been a big Kuro fan since the launch of PGR. PGR has been my favorite gacha since then and I’m very happy with wuwa too now. However, unexpectedly, PGR was ruined for spenders thanks to greed and typical global shafting - something I would not have previously expected from Kuro since they seemed to have learn from the poor PGR launch. I suppose it will be the same money for them if I shift my spending from PGR into wuwa but it does tarnish Kuro’s reputation imo. And because PGR is smaller I don’t think people even know what is happening. So while I think Kuro is one of the best devs still, they still have the capacity to shaft their players just like the others that prioritize CN over everyone else.

Loved BrownDust 2, loving Wuthering Waves and loving Aether Gazer... meanwhile left Genshin a long time ago, and while am still playing Star-Rail to some extent, may end up stopping depending on how the new region is done (cause Penacony was extremely disappointing). The reason I mention this is because you can see when a game is being made with love or with money... even Genshin and Star-Rail had much more of a soul at the start, but Hoyo became a big company and is devolving to another Ubisoft or similar... Kuro is maintaining quality, trust, and growth, and thus will always have my support. BTW Thanks for being such an awesome content creator... I used to watch your MMO videos as well (around the time Blue Protocol beta was announced), and I honestly really enjoy your video style.

Even if not enforced, that's a very shady thing to do and it makes me reconsider giving them the already little money I occasionally spend on HSR/ZZZ. The newer Hoyo games have some great dev teams, but the big company is still the good ol' greedyoverse; gotta be careful! I really think Kuro has a great future ahead with how good WuWa has become, now with the imminent 2.0 the improvements keep on coming and the attention to detail in every aspect is such a strong point for enjoyment. There are still a few qualms I have, like the horribly designed combat events catering to whales and putting pull currency behind the more difficult stages or some other minor UI/QoL stuff, but the list of issues is much bigger for the "competition" so I'm not worried at all. I'm gonna have such a good time exploring Rinascita, even more so being an Italian myself... Amazing start of 2025!

As an actor, getting paid for exclusivity contracts or for saying whatever a company wants me to say in a piece of advertisement is pretty standard. And I think most people understand that when they watch an add the actors are, well, acting. But I think most people would agree that giving journalists the same treatment, and paying them to say whethever a company wants them to say in their coverage of a game, would be shady af. Content creators seem to fall into a weird space in between. Probably because it's a pretty new format. I don't believe CCs are held to the same standards as traditional journalists - at least in the sense that there is no clearly defined "professional code of ethics", nor is there some sort of Content Creator sindicate or organized effort to self-regulate. (That I know about.) At the same time, CCs are generally expected to give accurate information and to remain honest in whatever topic they cover. And in regards to exclusivity contracts... Ethics aside, as an actor, it's not like being unable to work for Coca-Cola for a year or two after making an add for a different beverage will seriously hurt my work or my finances. But for a content creators that especiallises in a certain niche, being prohibited from covering competitors for the duration of a contract could be deadly. (Especially when there is a certain level of fuzziness. What counts as a "competitor" to Genshin? Other open world action RPGs? All anime Gacha games? Whatever game Hoyo tells you not to cover until the contract is over?) And, well, even if there are no exclusivity clauses or clearly definied gudelines, there will always be an implicit incentive to give a positive coverage for companies you want to have a partnership with. (As much as they value honesty, I don't think there are a lot of companies are willing to continue paying someone who gives a very negative coverage of their games.) That said... I definitely agree with Styx that, ideally, CCs should be able to cover games as freely and honestly as possible.

I got their archon and I have bad news hoyo lied about her ability to fly she's just moving forward you can't control it. It even works the same way with walls, she's have a much shorter time to do something than other characters. One thing is good for me I spent 0. I have all the Archons, and she feels the worst from them, not counting Venti. I will wait for other reviews, but I doubt they will be much different from my, only if CCs allowed to talk.
