at 19:00 I dont get why the bounding box does not work for this scene. I understand you can always use the relax to get a proper selection, but i also learned that you gotta cut your UVW islands in a way that they follow the "flow" so the map looks right later on. You also made a tutorial on this stone wall where you could simply UVW map with a bounding box... why is bounding box for that enough and for this backlean you need to completely relax?

In a 3D software world their are different coordinate systems. There is an object coordinate system, a world coordinate system and a surface coordinate system. Some tools pay attention to the object system, some tools to the world system and some tools the surface system. In the video there was a disconnect between the object and world system. If we don't realign them then when we shift to the surface coordinates there will be a disconnect with it. You probably could use the box mapping method. The distinction has more to do with what you are trying to accomplish. A couch cushion is a little more organized than the random pattern of a rock. Thus if we want more control, then we unwrap.

Hi Andrew. Long time no see. Are you still doing visualization? Architecture I think it was.
@silkypixel8 жыл бұрын
Currently doing visualization at HKS. Before that I worked on a movie at Reel FX with the team that did Book of Life. That was an incredible experience.

Amazing tutorial. But PLEASE... i dont know, if you know about that, but half of tutorials is your "okay"and "you know". This small change may be nice :)

It’s a very annoying habit in modern American speech - using “ok” and “you know” as punctuation. Drives me nuts too.
